well, they had a chance to award Bojack Horseman, Angela Basset and Beyoncé for the first time but they really needed The Simpsons, Sir David Attenborough and Carpool Karaoke AGAIN for works that were not even acclaimed.

    well, choices.

At least Rachel Bloom got her due

I got 30/39 right, for the ones I predicted.

Does Beyonce really need an emmy? Was Angela Bassett’s narration actually better than David Attenborough? I think BoJack is the only place they really dropped the ball. And James Corden never needs to win again. Can he go away now?

I am so happy for Rachel Bloom finally winning an Emmy! And the Live In Front Of A Studio Audience win was so well deserved. Otherwise, Free Solo’s sweep and so many repeat winners dragged down tonight’s ceremony for me, so I’m hoping for more surprises in the next two!

Does Beyonce really need an emmy?

She doesn’t need it, but it would’ve be nice to award it someone different at least, other than carpool karaoke (who has beat her before)

Homecoming was such a cultural phenomenon and was the most viewed/acclaimed films out of all the Variety Specials. I knew it probably wasn’t gonna win considering the message it held and the people it inspired/people it was FOR. The Emmy committee is the complete opposite of who Homecoming was meant for, so it makes sense.

The disrespect to Beyoncé. I AM SO DISGUSTED.

Does Beyonce really need an emmy?

    What does this even mean?

Only thing I am happy about is Rachel Bloom winning.

So sad that Sara Barellies and Angela Bassett continued to be overlooked. They gave Streep Narrator in a name check 2 years ago but won’t check off Angela up against 5 white dudes. Whatever.

In fact the just general lack of wins for women of color outside of Regina King has me thinking maybe I am overestimating Rashad.

The Carpool Karoke and James Corden love fest is just ridiculous at this point.

I’m more surprised that Beyonce didn’t lose to Bruce. They really love Corden I guess.

Lemonade should have won tons of emmys but I’m not sure Homecoming is really on that level. Personally I didn’t even watch it and I’m not sure it can be called a cultural phenomenon.

    What does this even mean?

It means she’s a music artist and she probably doesn’t give a fuck about emmys because she has so many awards already. And an emmy isn’t going to do anything to her legacy. Years after she’s dead (if she’s mortal) people will remember her Grammys and music awards, not whether or not she won an emmy.

I would be doubting Rashad if every Guest category didn’t go to a Black actor last year.

It was 100% a cultural phenom. Especially for the HBCU community which for YEARS was undermined and never got the proper credit it deserves, HBCU Marching Bands are commonly appropriated and stolen by (sorry for bringing race into it but…) white people for themselves. Beyonce shed a light on them for once and of course, the Emmys snubbed her. Since she’s a musical artist, Outstanding Musical Direction was her best bet, and she lost to a show that was considered a “long shot” by GoldDerby.

Since you brought up the Grammys, she only has 4 Grammys that aren’t Urban/R&B categories. She’s not even properly awarded in her own job. So its much of a shock that the TV Acad gave her nothing.

okay, voters we get it. you’re all mad Free Solo didn’t get a top prize award. but really, it’s time to the academies to discuss what qualify a cinema and tv film. or if that line is all blurred now and there’s no need for such distinction. this double standards are making no sense

Roma should’ve been eligible if Free Solo was…

Just checked and The Simpsons has now won an Animated Program Emmy for 3 decades in a row. Had it not won tonight, then that streak would not exist. This was the first time it won this category since 2008.

Lupita Nyong'o will win the Best Actress Oscar for "Us."
