    Wait… No unstructured?

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

I think it’s safe to say they could’ve done all of the CA categories in one night…

Wow that was thoroughly enjoyable. All the winners announced in less than an hour. I really wish they would keep this format. Also, Nicole Byer is great!

They did not presented Unstructured Reality Program and that was on the list.

It wasn’t on the list when I checked. I believe that’s one of the categories that will be announced on Saturday.

Sir David Attenborough will win every single time he’s nominated lol. Poor rest of the nominees. You never stood a chance, sadly.

“Becoming” losing Documentary Special is shocking! Wow.

I dunno – I love her and I picked it. But it wasn’t the best documentary I’ve ever seen. It was a bit guarded and contrived.

Most thought the political climate and subject matter would have sailed this to an easy victory. It certainly could have been more illuminating than what it was.

Wow so clearly my prediction of the Fab 5 winning Hosting is gone for a toss with RuPaul winning casting and editing for the first time.

Also I’m so mad I took out David Attenborough for Angela Basset. I was convinced they weren’t going to go for the sole white nominee, but I guess I was wrong lol. Although he is very deserving, Angela Basset being Emmyless is a crime.

Posting predictions here since there is now a specific thread for Night 1

    OUTSTANDING DOCUMENTARY OR NONFICTION SPECIAL
    Becoming – WRONG

OUTSTANDING HOSTED NONFICTION SERIES OR SPECIAL
    Vice – WRONG

OUTSTANDING SHORT FORM NONFICTION OR REALITY SERIES
Between The Scenes: The Daily Show – WRONG

    OUTSTANDING STRUCTURED REALITY PROGRAM
    Queer Eye – Right

OUTSTANDING CASTING FOR A REALITY PROGRAM
    Queer Eye – Wrong

OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A NONFICTION PROGRAM
    Apollo 11 – Wrong

OUTSTANDING CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A REALITY PROGRAM
    Life Below Zero – Right

OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A DOCUMENTARY/NONFICTION PROGRAM
    American Factory – Right

OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A REALITY PROGRAM
    Queer Eye – Wrong

OUTSTANDING MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A DOCUMENTARY SERIES OR SPECIAL (ORIGINAL DRAMATIC SCORE)
    Why We Hate – Right

    OUTSTANDING NARRATOR
    Angela Basset – Wrong

OUTSTANDING PICTURE EDITING FOR A NONFICTION PROGRAM
    Apollo 11 – Right

OUTSTANDING PICTURE EDITING FOR A STRUCTURED REALITY OR COMPETITION PROGRAM
    Queer Eye – Wrong

OUTSTANDING PICTURE EDITING FOR AN UNSTRUCTURED REALITY PROGRAM
    Cheer – Right

OUTSTANDING SOUND EDITING FOR A NONFICTION OR REALITY PROGRAM (SINGLE OR MULTI-CAMERA)
    Apollo 11 – Right

OUTSTANDING SOUND MIXING FOR A NONFICTION OR REALITY PROGRAM (SINGLE OR MULTI-CAMERA)
    Apollo 11 – Right

OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A NONFICTION PROGRAM
    The Cave – Wrong

I got 8 right. I guess my best prediction was Why We Hate for Music.

I swear I had predicted Cheer for directing only, I don’t know why I have Queer Eye written here, but I won’t count it as a right prediction as that’s only fair.

I don’t want to read too much into these wins, but the Narrator win makes it seem like they aren’t above rewarding a white nominee in a majorly black category. So I guess my apprehensions over Jim Parsons are unfounded?

I’m kinda glad The Apollo won over Becoming, but being clueless I didn’t see Scientology and the Aftermath coming for the win. Predicting Why We Hate is my only proud prediction, but I did terrible overall.

Anyways, congrats to Gabriel Seehorn (gabspss) for winning Night One here at Gold Derby, predicting correctly 13 out of 17 categories. I hope all seven users (and more!) will be sharing their predictions for the rest of the Creative Arts nights.

    13 – Gabriel Seehorn (gabspss)
    9 – forwardswill
    8 – AayaanUpadhyaya, wolflali
    7 – eastwest, Eden, Riley

Won’t be surprised if some voters made the same mistake and thought they were voting for Apollo 11 lol
