It’s just most people weren’t expecting for Succession to win editing. It is kinda big.

Editing winner often matches up with the winner for Series so I think many people were expecting it.

I didn’t predict Killing Eve but so what if some people were? It’s not like anyone here predicted every single nomination this year correctly. Congrats to The Handmaid’s Tale. It deservingly won but to say it was so obvious it was winning this category when it collapsed in nominations support is wrong.

Calm down, wolfali. I was just responding to Rachel’s question. My god.

Whichever show wins casting, is coming for that director’s award.

Are there any crafts categories left that Ozark still has a good chance of winning? It was still nominated for a ton in the first place, so people might be counting it out too quickly but that Editing loss did seem like a sign…

I was actually predicting Ozark for editing. Succession’s win was pretty unexpected.

Succession is going to win casting, I think, with The Crown being a spoiler, but people are aware that casting and directing didn’t line up in two of the last four years, right?

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A LIMITED SERIES OR MOVIE Watchmen: “This Extraordinary Being” BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A MULTI-CAMERA SERIES (was predicting Will and Grace because it’s on its final season but so is The Ranch so this will be an interesting one) The Ranch: “It Ain’t My Fault” (Spoiler: Will and Grace)  BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY FOR A SINGLE-CAMERA SERIES (HALF-HOUR) The Mandalorian: “The Reckoning” (Insecure‘s double nomination is a feat on its own but it’s vote splitting imo) BEST CONTEMPORARY HAIRSTYLING Black-ish: “Hair Day” (part of my argument for this one is narrative and also it’s baity episode name) (Spoiler: Schitt’s Creek) BEST FANTASY/SCI-FI COSTUMES Watchmen: “It’s Summer and We’re Running Out of Ice” (Spoiler: The Mandalorian) BEST MULTI-CAMERA PICTURE EDITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES Will & Grace: “We Love Lucy” (Spoiler: One Day at a Time) BEST PERIOD COSTUMES The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” (Spoiler: The Crown) (this will be one of the key categories to tell us how Maisel love in the Academy is generally overall) BEST PERIOD MAKEUP AND/OR CHARACTER MAKEUP (NON-PROSTHETIC) The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” (Spoiler: Picard) BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR A NARRATIVE CONTEMPORARY PROGRAM (ONE HOUR OR MORE) Succession: “This Is Not For Tears” (will say again that no Drama Series apart from GoT last year which lost its category to Chernobyl has lost production design and gone on to win Series. I am predicting Succession here but Ozark can easily win this too) (Spoiler: Ozark) BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN FOR A NARRATIVE PROGRAM (HALF-HOUR) The Mandalorian: “The Mandalorian” (Spoiler: What We Do in the Shadows) BEST PROSTHETIC MAKEUP FOR A SERIES, LIMITED SERIES, MOVIE OR SPECIAL Picard: “Absolute Candor” (Spoiler: Hollywood) BEST SINGLE-CAMERA PICTURE EDITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES Ozark: “Fire Pink” (Spoiler: Stranger Things) BEST SINGLE-CAMERA PICTURE EDITING FOR A LIMITED SERIES OR MOVIE Watchmen: “A God Walks Into Abar” (Spoiler: El Camino) BEST SOUND EDITING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (ONE HOUR) Stranger Things: “Chapter Eight : The Battle of Starcourt” (Spoiler : The Crown) BEST SOUND EDITING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (HALF-HOUR) AND ANIMATION The Mandalorian: “The Mandalorian” (Spoiler : What We Do in the Shadows) BEST SOUND MIXING FOR A COMEDY OR DRAMA SERIES (HALF-HOUR) AND ANIMATION The Mandalorian: “The Child” (Spoiler : Schitt’s Creek) BEST SOUND MIXING FOR A LIMITED SERIES OR MOVIE Watchmen: “This Extraordinary Being” (Spoiler : El Camino) BEST SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS Watchmen: “See How They Fly” (Spoiler : The Mandalorian) BEST SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE Devs: “Episode 8” (Spoiler : The Handmaid’s Tale)

I was thinking fleabag and the likely vote-split for GoT last year but yeah, I guess you have a point. It’ll just help with my prediction.

But there was also THT with two episodes winning over casting winner Stranger Things with a single episode. And yes, GOT. I am not saying they won’t go hand in hand this year, but let’s see first.

This should be noted. Stranger Things won Casting in 2017 yet The Handmaid’s Tale won all its above the line Emmys in 2017 including Directing. The Crown could very well win Casting but lose directing to Succession in a sweep.

Although what should also be worth baring in mind is how the last time The Crown took Casting it won Directing.

    The way Schitt’s Creek was a non-event.

It was literally up for just two awards, one of which was Sound Mixing against Mandalorian.

Okay, but The Handmaid’s Tale deservedly having 4 wins in a row for Production Design despite only having 3 seasons. We love to see it.

THT is one of the most technically ambitious shows on TV. It deserves these CA wins.

Schitt’s Creek getting blanked here means nothing lol. Some of y’all be reaching. If it loses Casting tomorrow, then we can get worried/concerned. Ozark getting blanked after improving over last season would be weird, but it is starting to feel like it might be Linney (who is far from a lock and one of the more tenuous frontrunners) or bust.
