It was hillarious how with Hairstyling when they showed the nominees and you were like wow these are all so deserving and then they showed This is Us and the clip they showed was literally Justin Hartley’s hair.

Big Little Lies was robbed in the nominations stage here!

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Also in some of the editing clips there was no editing. Lol.

Or Ozark. They chose one of the best edited scenes in the episode but showed the 7 seconds in which the camera was only on Tom’s face. I mean, what?!

Schitt’s Creek is winning at the very worst one Emmy. Mark my words.

However it would be hilarious if One Day at a Time becomes the only PopTV show to have won an Emmys when it was shut out above the line.

We were supposed to marvel at Susan Kelechi Watson’s braids.

Or even The Handmaid’s Tale for supporting visual effects. I mean that scene was stunning but like it looked like there were hardly any visual effects there in comparison to the other nominees.

Same with Jack Ryan. I mean did it get a nomination here for gunfire?

If I was to choose on clips alone I’d have given all the crafts to Maisel, The Crown and Westworld. Westworld’s clips actually looked better than its season although I was distracted away from the sound editing because of Common People being played in the background of its clip.

Disagree. Basically all that scene was effects, but they were supporting. The water thing, the cross and probably all the Handmaid’s on the street too.

Most of the Lincoln Memorial scene had visual effects. There are clips on Youtube that show exactly what was effects and what wasn’t.

    — Curious what others think about The Crown winning over Maisel in Costumes. I noticed a number of people predicting a win for Maisel. But The Crown has won every year its been nominated, so it doesn’t seem like an upset?

    — I thought Schitt’s Creek had a shot at winning Hair with Moira’s million and one wigs. But losing to an episode that literally has “hair” in the title isn’t that shocking. If they had lost to Grace and Frankie or something, I think that would be more worrisome. I think Gold Derby is probably overestimating Schitt’s above the line, but I’m not going to complain about any wins they may receive.

Well, that’s the big misnomer about editing, right? People assume that editing choices are exemplified in the cuts, and some projects exploit that to erratic effect. But the choice NOT to cut is just as important, if not moreso, depending on the performance.

But I get what you mean.

Lol at people being shocked at THT’s production design win. I told you it was going to happen, but no one wanted to hear it. If you’ve seen Household, you know exactly why it won. The deserving winner in that category. Everyone keeps saying it’s done everywhere, but I always knew it wasn’t. Watch it snatch 2 more awards this year to tie its S2A and S2B winning totals.

Said this just yesterday about THT production design. It might snatch Bledel but you think it will win, what, makeup? Such a fall from grace. 🙁

Pose should have won period makeup, that’s a fact.

I love how people were really trying with ”Schitt’s”. Up to two awards, one a sound award against a big budget sci-fi series from disney and an a HAIRstyling award against an episode that is, literally, called ”HAIR day” LOL

Also, aside from Casting, I don’t expect Schitts to win anything, it’s a great series but a great craft series it ain’t.

It may win costumes, but it won’t win makeup and editing.

It can certanly win editing. It has 2 episodes nominated (which shows support and it will not vote split since everyone will vote for the finale, of course) and was also nominated by the guild.

Sometimes talent still triumphs in the face of the vitriol from aspiring future Commanders and Aunts.
