It was never that likely to win Hairstyling against an episode literally called ‘Hair Day’ – much as I would have enjoyed seeing Moira’s wigs rewarded.

Anti-Asian sentiment is strong on this site.

Just anti lack of award worthy performance in her ke run at least

Lol I got a similar score and same ranking as last year. Ok!

Anyways, happy for Succession‘s first win in acting, This Is Us‘ 4th Emmy win (which I predicted yay), Eddie Murphy, Maya Rudolph and Insecure in Editing.

    Disappointment with Britells’s loss.

As someone who predicted Cherry Jones winning, I’d be careful with those Snook predictions. They absolutely love Cherry Jones, so much so that she won last year for 2 mins of screentime. We saw them go to Ron Cephas Jones over James Cromwell in Guest Actor, even though This is Us missed series and got its lowest number of acting nominations this year. So I’m thinking given Cherry Jones own track record, and Cephas Jones winning over Cromwell, it would be safer to exercise caution with Snook in supporting actress.

100% agreed. I think their wins point to a Garner repeat instead. They’re just “defaulting” to favorites, deserving or not, and not just in acting, but in other categories too. I think it’s Garner vs. Snook though. I genuinely don’t see passion for The Crown at all. But HBC could still win.

Oscar FYC -- Give Viola Davis her second Oscar!

GUEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
This is Us: Ron Cephas Jones

@9, i was going to do this before Saturday night’s ceremony, but now – after he actually won – i’m even more curious what made you predict him over other contenders 🙂

    Night Five Results

    19/30 – Sagand
    17/30 – gabspss, ricardo505, StrangerAmongUs
16/30 – AayaanUpadhyaya, Brayden Fitzsimmons, eastwest, marcus_emn, perfectly weird
    15/30 – forwardswill
14/30 – Couverture, Eden, OneAndOnly, Riley, woflali

(If you updated your predictions, check your score, I might have missed it)

Anyways, in the predictions center, I had my best Creative Arts score. Pretty funny how a bunch of us got ranked one after another. And my two super bets on Comedy Guest Actress and Music and Lyrics paid off.

Is Cherry Jones the only other person aside from Tyne Daly to win 3 Emmys in the drama field for three different shows?

John Lithgow won for three different shows (competing in the Drama categories); Amazing Stories, The Crown and Dexter.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I placed 22nd and I believe this is my first time placing in double-digits for anything Emmy-related. I’ve always been in the triple/quadruple digits, lol. Kinda mad at myself for not predicting Bad Education or Cherry Jones or not going all in for Dave Chapelle.

So excited for tonight, I think this is the first time in a long time I’m rooting for front-runners in all series categories so it will be very satisfying to see them win.

    Insecure in Editing.

I’m wondering how to read this. It’s made me switch to Whenever You’re Ready in Writing because the writers branch is arguably more vote splitty than the editors branch and I think Whenever You’re Ready does have writing support but I find it interesting how the editors’ next in line nominee was Insecure and not Maisel (which has won the same amount of Creative Arts Emmys it did last year minus the acting losses and won more Creative Arts Emmys than in 2018) or What We Do in the Shadows.

Is this also Insecure’s first Emmy? Congrats!

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I know it’s well-meaning, but the constant counting and tabulating of Black and POC winners here feels rather perfunctory.

For those who genuinely support having Black and brown creatives get their day in the sun, this isn’t directed at you. But those who count these wins as some sort of performative gesture aren’t really helping the cause as much as they think they are.

Saying this as a Black person who admittedly doesn’t speak for all Black people.

Well Like Issa Rae said “I’m Rooting For Everyone Black”

    Also

    Victoria Thomas – Casting (Watchmen)
    Sharen Davis – Costumes (Watchmen)

Amatus Karim Ali — Children’s Program

Thank you for this information!!! 🙂 🙂

Pop TV actually has three wins. One Day at a Time won a multi-cam award a few nights ago.

That list appeared to leave out the juried awards for some reason. (Adult Swim’s 3 wins for Primal appear to be missing as well.)
Here’s the list the Television Academy has: (it’s on the second page of the PDF)

    HBO, Netflix – 19
    Disney+, NBC – 8
    ABC, National Geographic, VH1 – 5
Adult Swim, Amazon Prime – 4
CNN, FOX, Pop TV – 3
    CBS, Quibi – 2
A&E, AMC, Apple TV, BBC America, Discovery, EPIX, ESPN, FX Networks, History, Hulu, MagicLabsMedia.com, Oculus, Showtime, USA Network, YouTube – 1
