Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s latest season had its worst main title in the show’s run (very likely because of budget cuts). Why do you think it can make it?

I loved it because of the running gag with the other rebecca.

That being said it’s not the type of thing they usually nominate in this category.

That category is being decided by a popular vote instead of panel scores for the first time this year, so nobody actually has to listen to the theme or watch the sequence that contains it. I figure that the music branch will be biased toward a musical, especially with this being their last and only chance to show their appreciation for this show by marking it on their nominating ballots.

Good Omens is the only limited series or movie that submitted for fantasy/sci-fi costumes, so it gets the reserved proportional limited/movie slot in that category by default.

In the rules for costume categories they all (area 23, 24 and 25) say that “The number of nominees will be proportional to the number of submissions in each genre” but in fantasy/sci-fi costumes and period costumes (area 24 and 23) there is no “with at least one nomination for each” as it is case with contemporary costumes (25)…Mistake? I don’t have Good Omens because of that… What do you think? I am almost sure a previous version of the rules also had it in period costumes, but now it is not there…

The 2015 (when the categories changed from series and miniseries/movie/special to period/fantasy and contemporary) and 2016 rules had the “at least one in each genre” for period/fantasy; the 2017 rules did not.

Good catch!  I had not noticed that they had deliberately altered the wording.  My guess then is that four slots are reserved for series and the fifth is just up for grabs.  I will give my prediction slot to Star Trek, per its guild nomination.  It could be The Umbrella Academy though.

    Some thoughts/questions:

“This Is Us” gains Chris Sullivan (poor Justin Hartley…) and Mandy Moore, bus misses casting… Too much competition, but still…

“Rel” in cinematography – Just cancel the category! “Barry” overperforms, but misses cinematography – Weird! “Ray Donovan” in cinematography… I can’t with this branch!

There is no way “Good Omens” made top 5 in costumes. They just put it because it was the only limited series without caring about the rules (they clearly (to me) don’t say that).

All single camera picture editing categories had ties?

Why only 4 in production design half hour?

Don’t forget about the 2% rule.

Why only 4 in production design half hour?

Three-way tie for fifth? Given the choice between 4 and 7, they go with 4.

The question is how many awards can GoT win. I think they start with 6 lock up

FYC: Drama Series: Game of Thrones, Comedy Series: Barry, Limited Series: Chernobyl, Drama Lead Actor: Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Drama Lead Actress: Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Drama Directing: Miguel Sapochnik for The Long Night (Game of Thrones), Drama Writing: Jed Mercurio for Episode 1 (Bodyguard)

The two-percent rule does not apply to half-hour production design. It also does not apply to variety series directing. We are already investigating why there are the number of nominees that there are in those two races.

Can’t believe it took this long for BoJack Horseman to finally break into Animated Program but here we are – here’s hoping it pulls through after winning at the Annies.

The only thing I’m worried about is the Adventure Time special since the Emmys do tend to love Cartoon Network. Any thoughts on this race?
