Here’s the official press release from HBO:
LOS ANGELES, June 14, 2016 – The Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, will return to HBO for its ninth season, it was announced today by Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming. Details of the new season will be announced as they are confirmed.
“We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of CURB and can’t wait to see what he has planned,” said Bloys.
Asked why he decided to come back, David said, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”
CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. With 80 episodes to date, the show is HBO’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama series. David also starred in and co-wrote the 2013 HBO Films presentation “Clear History.”June 14, 2016 at 11:44 am #1201850877
I so want to book an acting gig on this show now that it’s back in production.June 14, 2016 at 12:32 pm #1201850898
Perhaps someone has a tie to Larry David and can share this story my friend swears is true. I think it would be hilarious on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
My friend, her husband, and another couple were out for dinner at a nice restaurant. Seated at an adjoining table was Larry David eating dinner alone. Huge fans, they all strained to keep their eyes averted and allow the TV legend to enjoy his meal.
My friend succumbed to temptation and looked over. David was gone. And he had left his dessert, a slice of a lovely chocolate cake with only a couple of forkfuls eaten. She suggested to her friends that they grab the plate and each eat a bite of Larry David’s food.
They snatched the plate and passed it around the table. As they laughed at their antics, my friend noticed that David’s sports coat was still on his chair. He was coming back!
They put the dessert plate of now not-so-lovely remaining morsels back on David’s table, raced to get the check, paid, and hurriedly exited the restaurant without confronting the star.June 14, 2016 at 12:43 pm #1201850903
I’d like to think Larry David will at last take home an Emmy for this show.

I couldn’t be more excited for the return of Curb! Such unexpected news, even though J.B. teased a return a few days ago.
Please let Larry finally win Lead Actor and / or Comedy Series.

Good, given how dire the Comedy Series race is with the latest expansion to 7 nominees.June 14, 2016 at 3:54 pm #1201850980
Finally! This is great news. It’s also fine timing with the renewed interest in Larry David over his inspired Bernie Sanders impressions on “SNL” this latest season (which should help net him an Emmy nomination soon). If David could finally win Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy, that would be icing on the cake and long overdue.June 14, 2016 at 7:57 pm #1201851150
oh man, it isn’t even my birthday, but I thank it anyway!!!!!!!
