I watched episode one. I don’t know how I feel about it. I get what they’re trying to do, but I don’t like the way it’s shot. The camera movement is very distracting and takes me out of what’s going on. The pace doesn’t help either. The acting is good. The music is decent. I’ll watch the second episode (later) and see if my opinion changes.

I watched the first two episodes. I like the show so far but to be honest only because of its music. The directing and the music blends well together and create a certain vibe but the show kinda has no plot. To me it’s still enjoyable to watch and I would consider it a good show but I don’t think it’s at the same caliber as Watchmen or Mrs. America. If I were a voter I would only vote for directing and music categories. The performance of the cast reminded me the cast of Marriage Story.  Subtle performances with being angry at each other now and then. Adam Driver was nominated for Oscar so maybe Andre Holland can score a lead actor nomination too since his category is weak. I currently have him but if the show doesn’t generate any buzz I’ll replace him with Paul Mescal.

I watched the first episode, but it wasn’t for me. In terms of Emmy chances, I think it will get craft nods but I don’t see it getting in the major categories.

I watched the first two episodes and quite enjoyed this. I can understand how some people might not be enjoying it but I think I found the combination of the music and the direction to be quite interesting. A user mentioned their discomfort with the camera operation (which is understandable) but I felt it was a nice ode to the cinematography of the films of the Nouvelle Vague age of French cinema. I enjoyed the second episode more than the first and found the scene with the trolley on the streets of Paris to be very similarly directed to the scene in La La Land where it cuts between Ryan Gosling playing the piano and Emma Stone dancing. The weak point of the series is probably the writing. I agree with the user who said there does seem to be a lack of plot. I thought Andre Holland, Amandla Stenberg and Joanna Kulig acted quite well and had Mrs. America not been around I would have probably been predicting a line up of Colette, Janney, Kulig, LuPone, Smart and Stenberg but I think their performances are too subtle for the Emmys. I think Holland has a chance at Lead Actor but it depends on the buzz of the show and the buzz of Quiz when it premieres in the States. I do think Chazelle is getting into Directing because that field is so empty but sadly I think even Hollywood is ahead of this in the Series race (which it really shouldn’t be).

    Episode 1 : Elliot
    Grade : B
    MVP : Andre Holland

    Episode 2 : Julie
    Grade : B+
    MVP : Amandla Stenberg

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

I watched the first five episodes and they are really good. Especially the third episode was amazing. Joanna Kulig is the highlight for me. We don’t get to see these kind of stories on television, I like the production design and how it portrays Paris with its diversity. I certainly liked it way more than Hollywood and now quite sure that Damien Chazelle will be considered for his directing.
