I have faith, even if with this kind of plot it’s so easy to jump the sharks.April 15, 2020 at 2:27 pm #1203428695

With or without embargo?

I’m hoping season 2 is as good as season 1. It was one of my favorite shows from 2019April 15, 2020 at 10:30 pm #1203429343This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.April 15, 2020 at 11:42 pm #1203429394
Quite the opposite! I was excited to watch. The first season should have won for Christina Applegate and was robbed of nominations for Linda Cardellini, writing and series. Review embargo lifts May 4th and Netflix will provide the remaining four episodes in advance for us; post-production on them is unfinished at this time.
I have intel though, as the screener letter indicates that we are allowed to reveal that James Marsden is getting the Alexander Skarsgård treatment. I actually advise you to consider him as a contender, as the flashbacks allow for a range. Plus we all think that Dead to Me will do better this year after establishing itself last year and with the field opening up, especially in supporting actor, not to mention goodwill from Westworld, which is airing right now, as is Mrs. America, on which he recurs.
My other comment is that I saw Suzy Nakamura with new eyes as the next-door neighbour back from last season after seeing her as a regular on Avenue 5 and I see that she has over a hundred credits on IMDb! One more random observation is that I again forgot that this is another Will Ferrell collaboration with Adam McKay, which should bode well for its chances. Being well-connected behind the scenes is largely why I am predicting What We Do in the Shadows for writing, so I should be consistent and apply that logic here.April 22, 2020 at 11:41 pm #1203442674
Finished the season. If the academy goes for it like they did Fleabag, there are two guest actresses of similar stature to Fiona Shaw and Kristin Scott Thomas. Neither has the material to be in contention for a win like the latter was, but they are both in multiple later episodes.
I was concerned about the premise of the show not being suited for multiple seasons and my suspicions were either thoroughly alleviated or found to be justified. I will not say which because of the embargo.April 22, 2020 at 11:57 pm #1203442717
Your mysteriousness is just making me more excited!
Good to know that Space Force and Dead to Me will both have strong guest actress contenders, as that category was looking to be SO empty before.
I am nervous about the longevity of this show, though. I got the same vibe from the first season that I did from Barry and Killing Eve, nearly perfect first seasons but potentially not suited for multiple seasons. Barry obviously pulled off season two with great success, but Killing Eve is unfortunately growing more and more tiresome as time goes on. Keeping hope that Dead to Me ends up like the former…
Though honestly, either way, I say it still has Series + Lead Actress x2 + Writing locked down, and Directing and I guess Guest Actress x2 very likely, with Supporting Actor as a vague possibility.April 23, 2020 at 12:54 am #1203442838
I wish they’d release this now.April 23, 2020 at 6:18 am #1203443190
I got hooked on the story, the characters, the funny and sad moments … The two main actresses are great.
