Fans are buzzing after the head of Showtime, David Nevins, recently spoke at the TCA press tour panel. He not only discussed several possible new series, but commented on the idea of ressurecting favorites!
I am a huge fan of the series and would love to see it return…I love the first 5 season, didn’t care for the 6th, enjoyed the glimpses of greatness in the 7th, and found the 8th to be wildly uneven, though a few re-writes and tweaks could have make it great.
What do you all think of this news? Could a reboot or continuation to this series actually work?November 29, 2015 at 5:52 pm #365913
I don´t agree with this new tendency to bring back series that are over and done. Its like sequels, accept that things end people and let things go! And if they screwed up, well tough shit, its their problem for producing a poor finale.
However, I was/am so pissed with Dexter´s ending that I wouldn´t object if they did another final season. But that´s it, just another ending, not a reboot or start over kinda thing.November 29, 2015 at 6:17 pm #365914
The show was dead long before its final episode. There’s no need to bring it back.November 29, 2015 at 7:51 pm #365915
I wouldn’t mind bringing the show back, but maybe just for a 5 or 6 episode limited series to repair or retcon some of what went wrong in the last season.
And maybe he could meet up with Hugh Laurie’s Dr. House, who also faked his death, and they could have wacky, diagnostic-medicine-and-serial-murder adventures together. 🙂November 29, 2015 at 11:44 pm #365916
I LOVED the first 4 seasons of Dexter, but I’m only here for its return if Dexter gets caught and gets the death penalty. That’s how the show should’ve ended in the first place.November 30, 2015 at 11:01 am #365917
By killing off a certain major character, the finale did damage that no spin-off could repair.

I sure hope not. The series was “over” long before it ended and there’s not need for it to come back and thats coming from someone that watched the show from the beginning.November 30, 2015 at 7:04 pm #365919November 30, 2015 at 8:51 pm #365920
i would be ok with this if the first five minutes show dexter sleeping and when he wakes up, it turns aout the last three seasons were just a dream (or nightmare)!!!!
and i totally agree dexter should have ended with dexter on death row probably seating on old sparky, since it was based in miami florida (you know prisioners can still ask or old saprky if they want it in florida!).December 1, 2015 at 12:24 pm #365921
Showtime has addressed it, said ‘no current plans’December 1, 2015 at 2:15 pm #365922
If they want to revive something I wouldn’t mind to get a proper final season of The L Word. When that show was good it was SO GOOD. When it was bad it was SO BAD. I try to pretend like sixth season has never happened. So please, bring back 7th season of The L Word! But no crazy Chaiken running things this time.December 2, 2015 at 8:25 am #365923
Terrible idea. Reboots work best for something from long ago missed by nostalgia like X-Files, or for something that got too short a run and left people wanting more. Not for shows that went stale and got repetitive 25% of the way into their original run.
