Is Diane Kruger in contention to recieve her first Emmy nomination for FX’s The Bridge? Her character, Sonya, is eerily similar to Claire Danes’ on Homeland, and she delivers a surprisingly stunning portrayal.September 30, 2013 at 8:22 am #303776
The show is so terrible and the category so crowded I can’t imagine Emmy taking notice. I also saw some very mixed reviews on her performance from critics.September 30, 2013 at 8:23 am #303777
Her portrayal is highly divisive and has been blasted by many, but I think she does have a chance at a nomintation, although FX is not usually good at launching new series at the Emmys (i.e. The Americans).September 30, 2013 at 8:28 am #303778
The show has lost a lot of the hype, it’s unlikely she gets nommed even at the Globes, and the Danes comparison hurts her more than helps her. Not to mention the bias the Emmys have against FX dramas. She’s out.Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantSeptember 30, 2013 at 11:09 am #303779
If we had a thread for every actor or actress, the forum would be impossible.September 30, 2013 at 11:19 am #303780
The show holds a 77 score on Metacritic (the same as HOC, The Americans, and Mad Men’s first season). And even mixed reviews point out her performance as the highlight.September 30, 2013 at 1:12 pm #303781
But FX bias, early airing, and other shows overshadowing it while it aired. My guess is no.September 30, 2013 at 1:18 pm #303782
No, “The Bridge” is going to struggle for any Emmy recognition next year, including Diane Kruger. It’s a fine series that deserves the attention all the same though.September 30, 2013 at 1:41 pm #303783
Keri Russell probably has a stronger chance for season 2 of The Americans (also on FX), than Kruger.September 30, 2013 at 1:45 pm #303784
That’s true, because it’s likely The Americans airs close to the end of eligibility again. But even The Americans/Keri Russell is a long shot.September 30, 2013 at 1:58 pm #303785
Yeah, The Americans has a greater chance of getting nominations, and even they can’t break through. So Kruger/The Bridge has no chance.September 30, 2013 at 4:56 pm #303786
Maybe I’m alone and I am okay with being alone in this sentiment but I actually very much enjoyed the first season of The Bridge, much more than House of Cards and Kruger and Matthew Lillard give Emmy nomination worthy performances. The Americans was considerably better and failed to gain any Emmy traction, though. So, likely no but I would be stoked if she managed to sneak in.September 30, 2013 at 5:01 pm #303787
The Bridge is one of the better series I’ve seen this year, although I have yet to see every episode. I was cajoled into watching it, and I’m happy I did.
Kruger’s character is wonderfully neurotic, and she’s surprisingly good. An Emmy nom would be fine by me.September 30, 2013 at 7:08 pm #303788
ps: Bichir also gives a good performance, but I don’t think he didn’t have material to compete with the other actors.
