Has a thread been created for this yet? If not, discuss the ongoing announcement here! Original television content confirmed so far:

WandaVision – an MCU series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – an MCU series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan

Loki – an MCU series starring Tom Hiddleston

The Mandalorian – a Star Wars series Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, and Taika Waititi, and produced by Jon Favreau

Untitled Cassian Andor Show – a Star Wars series starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk

I doubt that any awards attention will come from any of these shows, but it’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out!

What Caelin said: Disney can go ahead and take my $7. These shows and all those classic movies. And here Apple is going to try to scam us into $15-$40 for a few shows lmao.

$7 a month or $70 a year?! That’s a steal! Apple should be quaking in their boots. I doubt they’ll even have half the amount of subscribers as Disney if the rumors about their high prices are true.

Best thing for Apple to do would be to slight increase of price ($5-$10) for users already with an Apple Music subscription. You’re already paying for music why not for TV as well, worked for Amazon.

Out of the all of the Fox properties, it didn’t even cross my mind for Disney to be adapting/making new content with. This didn’t even occur to me and it was one of my top ten films of last year as well.

You know, Love, Simon the DISNEY property, the PG-13 film that says “fuck” 4 times (that I counted). Ugh, I remember when Disney actually meant something.

The whole modus operandi of the Walt Disney Company is that they make entertainment for EVERYBODY, not just exclusively for one demographic. In Walt Disney’s own words, “if [he] made films for children, [he] would be severely limiting his audience”.

And again because GoldDerby is SJW-heaven, I am not attacking on this decision because it is an LGBT-related comedy. I don’t care about that. I care about the fact that this film is clearly not an exclusively “for kids” experience because I would not let my kids watch a TV show or a feature film that say the F-word, regardless of what it is. I also have slight issues with the Marvel and Star Wars films as much as I like them, I do not think that they are “family-friendly” by any means.

Other than that, I am excited with the slate.

(and cue replies that call me homophobic in 3… 2… 1…)

I honestly was expecting that’s how it was going to go when they were announcing, but nope.

In regards to Tyler, you sound ridiculous. Not saying this because what you said can be said to be homophobic, but the fact that you’re afraid your kids are going to get access to the f-word through said show (or movie that said it once not four times). They’re going to be exposed to that no matter what in real life and, if they don’t include a kids-only option (which is unlikely), they’ll have access to all those Fox movies with cuss words, such as Alien. Star Wars / Marvel has been directed to kids and families for decades and nothing’s going to change. You say that this should be for more than one demographic, but you don’t agree that there should be one show that may or may not have the f-bomb because it’s not kids-friendly, smh. It bought Fox for a reason and it’s to expand its demographics beyond children and families.

Also, forgive people who think you’re homophobic when you single out a PG-13 gay movie with one use of the f-bomb instead of movies like Deadpool and the Alien franchise, a set of hard core R-rated action/horror films, when criticizing the Disney content.

    *looks at watch*

    Yep… she’s right on time…

I have cooled off on the subject since then. There isn’t even a confirmation that is it coming to Disney+, it was just announced but has no release date, so who knows.

And yeah, it can have a bit of LGBT related media, it’s just that I would not let my kids watch it personally. You could if you wanted to, but I won’t and everyone is different.

I am still super excited for Disney+ and will likely get it Day 1, it’s just that I will likely not watch everything that it has on and will enjoy the stuff that I do enjoy on it, much like everyone.

Update: It turns out that this won’t be an adaptation of the sequel book at all. According to the author, it’s just going to be a spin-off, not based on any pre-existing material.

I watched Love, Simon for the third time yesterday, it’s such a wonderful, progressive movie. It’s just adorable.

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.
