Who sees Hannah a hero exactly? I’m not. She has her own mistakes and flaws. She’s a victim of rape and bullying, but she’s also responsible for ruining her parents life or some of her not-as-quilty classmates life with her suicide and those video tapes. That’s what I call realistic. There are no heroes in the story. Just simple people with many mistakes and wrong decisions.

No its doesn’t . The Writing is passable , the show is not on the level with any of the other possible Best drama contenders , Saul, West world , House of cards, Americans…. It is comparable to a show like Timeless, Iron Fist or Scandal .. Its nothing Special … There are even a bunch of shows i didn’t love that i think are better made American Gods and legion come to mind…

As far acting , The Boy Minette is probably the best, he is the least cardboard of the cast and the only one who has any emotions or feelings you empathize with. Katherine and Kate are stiff and one dimensional . They dont provoke emotions or feelings from their characters and they have the ” saddest” story lines. Katherine has good chemistry with Minette and they work decently together but she isnt doing any thing revolutionary.

Kate has a few moments where she could be emotional and really hook the audience and she fails on every level … I mean think of any grieving mother on screen ( Nicole kidman in rabbit hole comes to mind) and how emotional that is … didn’t feel it, she was cold and distant and i found her to be a distraction from the show.

Some of the other school kids might become good actors one day and some of them did decent ish work with this show . but none of them deserve any awards attention.

I’d nominate it for Series, Actor (Minette), Actress (Langford), and Supp. Actress (Walsh) at least. Minette really conveys the emotions and actions of a lonely, shy kid and plays the part well. Langford did a great job of making me like and dislike Hannah at the same time, which I found impressive for someone with a small resume. Walsh really conveyed a grieving mother well and I felt for her the whole time. The “discovery” scene alone would seal her win her me.

The show does a great job of taking a storyline involving teenagers and making it engaging and interesting for adults as well. It’s definitely divisive (as seen on these boards and in the media), but it’s started a lot of important conversations as well. Only other show this year besides This Is Us that has had an emotional impact on me while watching. Although some people hear did not like the writing, when I watched it felt very realistic to me and it was easy to get lost in the world of these characters, which is something I don’t experience with most other shows.

Overall, I think it would be nice for a show that displays the experiences of younger generations this well to be nominated this well to be included in a lineup that is usually plagued with only “adult drama.” Adult characters aren’t the only ones with good stories.

I had some problems with the show, for sure. And I wasn’t satisfied by the ending. A small point, but did anyone else notice how bad the makeup was on the show? Orange faces on the guys to cover up stubble, for example.

But I really loved the performances of Dylan Minette, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Kate Walsh and Brian d’Arcy James. Katherine Langford was pretty good too. So if it receives any nominations for those performances, I’ll be happy.

Dylan Minnette’s especially. His skin was borderline yellow as the show went and I’m still surprised nobody pointed it out when filming. It reminded me a lot of Evan Peters’ makeup during season 1 of American Horror Story.

It does. A brilliant show with brilliant performances. All Minnette, Langford, Walsh and Boe deserves serious Emmy push too! And those were just the one submitted.

A case can absolutely be made for some of the performances — Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, and Kate Walsh, to be specific.
