I’ll do GoT
Kit: What a terrible performance he gave. I don’t want to be over-mean but the guy looked exhausted and he didn’t know what to do with a huge inner conflict for Jon. In what was supposed to be the biggest scene between the main characters of the show he could not even cry right. His last scenes are a mess as if he forgot who he really was. When your best moment in the final episode of your show is petting a CGI furry creature you know you fucked up.
Emilia: I hated the episode for the evidently forced twists those useless writers gave us, but Clarke is not to blame. The funeral scene is flawless and she looks believably mournful. Her first and biggest allied died and she knows she failed him.
In fact, her portrayal of desperation and loss during the episodes is a testament of Emilia’s commitment to the role because like domino pieces, all her friends and family are taken away in the midst of completely ungrateful (Jon included) people.
I am happy with her submission because it was the most Dany-centric episode we got and her acting is honest to let us know how lonely and utilized she felt by then.
Note: A scene with Lena would have been awesome.August 16, 2019 at 3:33 am #1203026094
Sterling K. Brown and Milo Ventimilglia have the best episodes from what I’ve seen (haven’t seen Pose and Better Call Saul). I’d give Milo the win!
So many of the Lead Actress nominees have such amazing tapes… all of them actually (haven’t seen Robin Wright though) but I hope this goes to Emilia Clarke.August 16, 2019 at 6:02 am #1203026193
I have seen all the male tapes with the exception of Bateman and I think that Brown, Odenkirk, Porter and Ventimiglia are equally deserving.
But I am going to give you a 100% proved tip for your predictions. During the last four year TCA have become deservingly female centric, this made the voters to select only the best male performances, for that reason ALL the male nominees from TCA have won an Emmy after that:
2017-2018 – It was when Keri Russell won, Matthew Rhys and Darren Criss were the only male nominees, both won the Emmy after that.
2016-2017 – It was when Carrie Coon won, Sterling K. Brown was the only male nominee, he won the Emmy after that.
2015-2016 – It was when Sarah Paulson won, the situation was trickier, but confirms my theory even more, the category was not that female centric, however, Courtney B. Vance and Rami Malek were nominated and after that both won the Emmy (exactly like Criss and Rhys). The other two male nominees – Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk could not have won, since they lost to Vance and Odenkirk respectively. Still, their nominations here meant a lot, Odenkirk is a perennial nominee and a favorite of the acting branch, while Cranston and his work on All the way were the LAST really respected TV movie nomination and also made his surprise victory at SAG (again, the LAST victory by a TV movie) less shocking since it was a warning about it.
So, this year – 2018-2019 – Michelle Williams won and Billy Porter was the only male nominee, so it is pretty clear that he is winning.August 16, 2019 at 6:45 am #1203026245
Darlings, the best male episode was Billy Porter’s, but I feel in my Thatcherian gut that Bob Odenkirk is winning. The best female tape is Viola Davis and, to be honest, I have no idea who’s winning. I’m going with Emilia Clarke at the moment.

It seems like Billy Porter is going to win, but can I hear why? I know he’s the frontrunner, but I don’t know a lot about his show, such as how well received it was, what kind of reviews he got, and if people believe it has enough industry support. I just want to know more before I give him my top spot.August 16, 2019 at 11:57 am #1203026672
He is just great.August 16, 2019 at 1:26 pm #1203026779
Pose got four TCA nominations, including Individual Achievement in Drama for Billy Porter, as well as five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Actor would be a real toss-up between him and Sterling K. Brown under the tape system. The latter would get no help from Milo Ventimiglia because he submitted one of the only two episodes of the season in which he did not appear. Brown has Porter beat on screen time, but Porter has weightier material. “Love is the Message” was the first episode that I saw after the pilot, making me like a hypothetical panelist who was going in blind. Porter does sing and cry, but I would have liked more of an arc. Randall and/or Beth are in pretty much every scene of “R&B”, but I preferred Susan Kelechi Watson. Still, Brown gets to throw down in it and play his character across decades at pivotal moments.August 16, 2019 at 2:47 pm #1203026889
I’m sticking with Emilia Clarke for Best Actress. For Killing Eve, I see a Kit Harington/Peter Dinklage 2016 Emmys type of vote-split Between Oh and Comer. One is beloved by the Emmy voters and the other had an all-around better season.August 16, 2019 at 4:32 pm #1203027047

If you read my post and also Riley’s post on this same thread you will see how prestigious and acclaimed are both the show and Porter since the TCA are only one real awards for TV that are voted by critics and they reflect very well with their general opinion as a whole.August 16, 2019 at 7:24 pm #1203027232
I think “Winner” is Odenkirk’s best submission in the whole series.
Big fan of Better Call Saul, Sex Education, Barry, BoJack Horseman, and, especially, SurvivorAugust 17, 2019 at 6:29 am #1203027695
I watched all the tapes. If I was a voter Bob Odenkirk would be my #1, but Billy Porter is the #2 without any doubt. Both episodes are great. Ranking the tapes:
2. Love is the Message
6. The Iron Throne
Talking about Lead Actress, Jodie Comer has the best tape by far (I didn’t watched Robin Wright and Viola Davis). ‘One Way Out’ is a very good tape for Linney, she rocks on that episode (actually in the whole season).
Ranking the tapes:
1. I Hope You Like Missionary
2. One Way Out
3. The Last of the Starks
4. You’re Mine
5. The GraduatesAugust 17, 2019 at 6:41 am #1203027707
Love is The Message is so good. I pretty much wanted to sign up for the Billy Porter Fan Club after that and I’m a died in the wool GoT/Killing Eve/Succession type girl. It’s Porter for me.August 17, 2019 at 8:08 am #1203027816
I watched it last night and was coming in as a huge skeptic of him and the show. But he was great in it. He was a force of nature on screen. Hilarious and deeply moving. And he sings. He would definitely deserve it. Haven’t seen Odenkirk yet but Porter so far would get my vote over boring Bateman. I’m gonna start watching Pose Porter’s tape was so good.
