Now that is a lie, Bateman has not been as praised as his costars, in fact, he is rightfully overlooked. Tom Pelphrey also received more love/praise than him for this third installment. I know this is how the character is supposed to be, but he is not elevating the material either, he gave the most forgettable performance of the 5 main cast members.

Your behavior is very obnoxious and out of place, first calling me “Chile” and now liar… I never lie, unlike you, I read other people´s (outside of this forum) opinion as well, it is the only way to found objectivity and unanimity, this is how I predicted Comer´s win overs Oh. And I never said that Pelphrey has less buzz, I said that the four of them (Garner, Linney, Bateman and Pelphrey are more or less even, McTeer is very far behind, almost no mentions) have a lot of buzz, here are some top comments for you from the Facebook page of Ozark:

-“I’ve watched been watching for hours! My favorite show! Love It!
Laura Linney is awesome playing Wendy Byrde and so is Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde. I think it’s the best show out there!” – 237 likes and hearts for this comments, more than all the people commenting in this forum combined.

-“About to finish the last episode of season 3. Been watching when I can since it came out. Loving it! I adore Jason Bateman 😍”

-“Best show I’ve seen in a loooong time. Love Justin Bateman as Martin Byrde!”

-“Love Jason Bateman! Fantastic directing, acting, script. Freaking unbelievable! ❤️”

-“Jason Bateman has become one of those actors that when I see his name attached to a project, chances are good it will be a quality piece that I will enjoy.”

-“Hanging from a bridge in Juarez was easily my favorite line of the season. Great show & cast overall, and Jason Bateman is especially great.”

-“Jason Bateman is an amazing actor wether it’s comedy or drama. He’s superb in this role. I’m so ready for season 4 now.”

-“At first I had trouble watching this very valiant but love it now. Julia Garner is a very good actress she made me a fan. All the acting is great. Have always loved Jason Bateman. Looking forward to season 4”

-“Ok, so I never realized Jason Bateman was such a fantastic actor. I’m really looking forward to see what he does next, although I don’t want Ozark to end. I hope he continues with these type of roles.”

-“I LOVE Ruth! The way Julia Garner plays her character is mesmerizing – brilliant actress. Jason Bateman is one of my all time favourite actors. Love him as Marty👏🏻”

-“The acting in This show is some of the BEST I have seen in ages! Bens crisis is Emmy worthy he was excellent as was Laura Linney, Jason Bateman and Julia Garner… omg so so good!!!! Bravo to all!”

“Ozark Season 3 was awesome and kudos to that cliffhanger. The actor Tom Pelphrey (Ben) deserves an award for his role. Hope to see him in more shows.
Jason Bateman is always great in any role he plays. Can’t wait for season 4!”

Claire Foy won the year she won the Emmy. Bateman didn’t win the Emmy when he won.

Wrong. Foy won TWO SAG awards and she lost her first try for the Emmy to Moss.

Yes she did win two SAG awards that is true but you’re arguing that Bateman’s win at SAG can be used as a bellwether to predict his victory, which it can’t because we don’t if he would have won at SAG had Ozark been eligible. Foy’s second and surprise win at SAG was a bellwether to predict her Emmy win later that year.

It’s not as if this is Bateman’s second try at the Emmys or that he has 2 SAG awards like Foy so I don’t see how the situations are comparable at all.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Because the popular consensus is that his co-stars outshined him, with Linney, Pelphrey, and Garner all having much more buzz than him this year.

Meanwhile, I keep hearing people say over and over how amazing his competitors were. Compared to all the recent winners in this category, Bateman just feels out of place, and nowhere near as hyped up as them. Much like pretty much every acting win last year, I’m expecting the actor with the most passion to win, and I don’t think that’s Bateman.

For the record, I think he does a great job and this was his best season. I just think for him to win, he’s gonna need a much showier and emotional year like Linney had this time.

So objectivity for you is to read, copy and paste fellow stans’ comments on social media, that are praising Bateman only to support your narrative ?

In case you did not know, personal judgment =|= objectivity, or 99% of these folks are using a subjective language so you are making no points here.

In terms of buzz, Linney, Pelphrey and Garner are far ahead of Bateman and that is a fact. I will not discuss any more as your judgement is obviously clouded by the fact that you are a Bateman’s stan. The conversation can only be stagnant and I am not here for stagnant conversations.

This is the most baseless and poorly argumented response that I have ever received in this forum:

-I am not a Bateman’s stan. As most of the people here know, I just watched Ozark, literally finished all 3 seasons 10 days ago. If I was a stand, I would have waited years to watch the show of my favorite actor.

-“Buzz” means a lot of people talking about the same thing. Buzz has nothing to do with my personal opinion and judgment, I may adore a TV show, but if no one else loves it, there is no buzz. Buzz has nothing to do with personal judgment. I already proved you that this is the case for Bateman, but according to you is not valid, because all thousands of people that like him are stans, I have to laugh. So the people that praise the other actors for Ozark are objective, but the ones that are praising Bateman are stans? Hahahaha.

-The most laughable part is your failed attempt to argue the opposite with the phrase: “Linney, Pelphrey and Garner are far ahead of Bateman and that is a fact.” How is this a fact? On what is this “fact” based on? Aaah yes, on your imagination.

Yes she did win two SAG awards that is true but you’re arguing that Bateman’s win at SAG can be used as a bellwether to predict his victory, which it can’t because we don’t if he would have won at SAG had Ozark been eligible.

No, I was arguing that is ridiculous to claim that a SAG winner has no buzz. I never spoke about winners. You are completely correct that their situations are still very different. However, from the last 10 SAG winners in Drama, only 3 have not won the Emmy, one of which does not count – Spacey, since we do not know what would have happen with him without the scandals. The other two are Steve Buscemi and Bateman. I personally think that Bateman will win at some point, when I see the actual nominees, I will decide if I will predict him for this year. And between the the last 10 female winners, only Oh and Aniston have not won yet, for Aniston this year will be her first attempt, so actually, it is only Oh.

I think people on here are underestimating Bateman’s winning chances. I’m not predicting him at the moment but I think if Cox and Strong are both nominated, he’s either winning or he’ll be the runner up. I know it’s the consensus around here that Linney and Pelphrey were this seasons standouts but among the GP, Ozark is still viewed as Bateman’s show. He also just isn’t competing against Linney and Pelphrey lol, so even if you think he isn’t as deserving as those two it’s not like they’ll take votes away from him.

Like I said, I’m not predicting him now but he’s probably going to win for this role before the show ends and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s this year. He already has won SAG for Ozark before.

I finally caught up with it the other day. I really hope they do. Genuinely choked up multiple times throughout the season, great performances and characters I’ve really grown to love. I wasn’t even a fan of the show initially. Would love to see Sterling K Brown and Mandy Moore nominated again. Both had great seasons.

I binged it last week and I totally agree. If voters are still watching it This Is Us should return as s4 was one of the show’s best. And even if they stopped watching it, they might still vote for it considering the controversial seasons of BLL, THT, KE and Westworld.

Everything could happen after the top 4 of Succession, Ozark, The crown and better call Saul. This Is Us is very much in the race.

I’m thinking of replacing Stranger Things with This Is Us, though the latter’s SAG snub (while the former managed to get in) has me worried.

Stranger Things is probably a safer bet than This Is Us because not only it had the SAG ensemble nom, but it has tech noms that could help it to get into series, and some are considering it to be nominated in directing.

But regarding SAG, like I said yesterday on the 2021 SAG thread, we have assumed it’s harder for TIU to get the nomination than the win. And Sterling K. Brown did get nominated, so it’s not like the show was completely shut out from the ceremony.

Hartley is lead, so it’s makes sense from a performance point of view. And they might also push Ventimiglia to supporting.

Justin Hartley going in the lead is where he belongs, he is still phenomenal, but his chances haven’t decreased from changing categories, because he wasn’t going to get into supporting. If Ventimiglia, then he stands a strong chance of a nomination, and personally I can’t see a voter checking off one of the brothers (Sterling K Brown) and not the other

Just a reminder that This is Us was one of the Top 10 most watched cable shows of the 2019-2020 season, averaging over 11 million views per episode.

A lot of people are still watching it, so many of those might just be voters.

I hope that both this and Stranger Things get in over some of the other contenders.

I really want to include Stranger Things but don’t know who to take out. I still have faith that Westworld is going to get a series nomination.

The Handmaid’s Tale has won four guest acting Emmys including two last year and there’s currently only one actor predicted to get nominated this year.. I don’t know what to say to that.
