I think the fact Stateless will be airing during nominations voting is going to help Yvonne Strahovski and Cate Blanchett in their categories this year A LOT.

That’s only if people are watching it right when it comes out. I try not to buy into these types of predictions, but who knows. Cate doesn’t need help though.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

I’m only confident about Aniston, Colman and Linney making it into Drama Actress in the same way that I’m only confident about Blanchett, King and Wever making it into Limited/Movie Actress. Those last three spots are up for grab and I can see any combination of Jodie Comer, Viola Davis, Nicole Kidman, Mandy Moore, Elisabeth Moss and Reese Witherspoon (TMS) getting in.

I feel like if voters see Kidman’s name on the ballot they’ll remember her powerful performance but then it aired so long ago. And then I feel like Davis could slip in but the fact the number of nominees have been reduced doesn’t help. This is Us could very well be the show voters are watching now and Mandy Moore got nominated last year but the category is so competitive. Witherspoon could receive lots of goodwill here due to being in three projects and could get checked off alongside Aniston but can she make it into a category of six. Moss is an Emmy darling who has given an Emmy winning performance but then again she has missed in this category before in less competitive years before returning the following year. And then Comer and Oh have had a lot of visibility over the past few weeks, Comer has the tape and people have been talking about them despite this season of Killing Eve being crap? Help!!!!

I doubt very much Succession gets 7 acting nominations

I think it can VERY EASILY get 7 acting nominations considering the ensemble is one of the only ensembles that seems to have been everywhere and publicly campaigningI can explain why I think it can easily get 7 acting nominations now due to the rule changes in the Supporting categories :

Reason for Brian Cox nomination – Do I need to give one?

Reason for Jeremy Strong nomination – I think if voters check off Cox it will be very hard to not check off Strong.

Reason for Sarah Snook nomination – I think the nomination was her hurdle but I think she is comfortably in now the number of nominees have been extended.

Reason for Matthew MacFadyen and Kieran Culkin – I am tempted to slot in Giancarlo Esposito, Mark Duplass or Chris Sullivan instead of one or both of them but I have a feeling at least one of them is 8th or 7th and this new rule helps them. I mean Culkin probably was 8th last year so who’s to say he isn’t in the top 8 this year with the category being extended, him actually campaigning more than any Supporting contender who isn’t called Tom Pelphrey this year and the show having a larger following.

Reason for Cherry Jones – Her and Cox are locked for nominations and I am tempted to slot her in for The Handmaid’s Tale as well.

Reason for Harriet Walter – I was initially dismissive of her chances but I think the fact that Walter had a significant role in Killing Eve this year, she has a larger following because of it and Killing Eve doesn’t have a Guest Actress submission in this category is going to help her get more than Succession voters.

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

wow, normally I don’t pay much attention to campaigns (probably that’s why I only now found out that Riley did an interview with freaking Fiona Shaw), but this seems like an impressive list.

I very much doubt that Killing Eve is anywhere close to a Drama Series nomination and that Sarah Snook is not in the top 10 for supporting actress.
