McTeer can get hurt the most by being in the middle of the ballot, but everyone here is convinced she’s making it. Kidman too, especially without the 2% rule.

Kidman could very well be right next to Linney on the ballot for all we know.

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

Because she is in a Top 2 contender that is beloved by actors and is considered to be the supporting stand out of the season.

(Also not saying she’s getting a nomination but imagine how hilarious it would be if Zendaya pulled an upset nomination because she is the first name on the ballot for half the voters ahead of Witherspoon and Wood)

Witherspoon seems like such a great person, but I just don’t see her getting a nomination this year.

Ha, everyone’s in the ballots thread. Quick question, when are the nominations announced? Three weeks from tomorrow? That’s a lot of TV to watch.

    July 28th.

Thanks! Wow… I wonder how many voters are actually thorough and don’t just vote for the popular people or their friends.

For people who have seen the performers ballot where is Kidman in relation to Linney and who is near Carter, Garner, McTeer and Snook?

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

I figured that this was compensated by how the season of Game of Thrones in question still won Outstanding Drama Series, which The Handmaid’s Tale is not close to doing this year.

Yes, because all branches vote for Drama series, we are talking about the acting branch here. If only actors were voting for Drama series, GoT would have had ZERO wins, while THT would have still have 1 win.

Who the hell do I pick for the last two slots (I think Jen, Olivia, Laura and Reese are comfortably in)? :

Viola Davis – Was nominated last year, been nominated every season and has won for this role, has narrative (although we know that doesn’t always work) and is the most talked about contender out of all of those on the bubble right now. CONS – Missed already in this category in a just as competitive year. Show isn’t the newest or hottest thing out there.

Jodie Comer – Won last year and has a baity tape that people have been talking about a lot. Also is one of the hottest (in terms of buzz) rising stars in Hollywood right now. Show is airing at the right time. CONS – Show predicted to have less support, season had lower critical acclaim, category is too packed.

Nicole Kidman – Won for this role, most famous name competing in this category, has the performance. CONS – Missed at SAG despite winning previously, season 2 was a bit polarising, could be affected by the fallout from the Andrea Arnold scandal, category is jam packed, show has less support overall. Show also aired a while ago.

Elisabeth Moss – Won for this role, got nominated at SAG, show an acting darling. CONS – Show seems to have aired a while ago, show has less guild support and less acclaim. Moss has already missed in this category during just as competitive years. Could miss à la Julianna Margulies in 2013.

Sandra Oh – Probably 2nd last year, won last year’s SAG and GG, big legendary name, has been doing some of the most campaigning of any contender at the moment, narrative plays in her favour as well. Voters could still be watching her and Comer. CONS – Missed at SAG, seems to have been rejected by the acting branch, category is super competitive.

Mandy Moore – Has a talked about performance in a show that received 7 acting nominations last year (including for herself). CONS – Missed twice before already, show went from win to snub at SAG and doesn’t seem to have an good outlook at the Emmys.

Claire Danes – Could benefit from voters catching up on her show in lockdown. CONS – Hasn’t been nominated here since 2016 and show seems to be heading out acting wise at the Emmys and could end up like the final season of The Good Wife.

To be honest I’m more torn about which two of Comer, Davis, Kidman and Oh to predict. Both Davis and Oh have the visibility and Comer and Kidman have the performances and could very easily benefit from possibly being next to Colman and Linney on the ballot.

I know it seems ridiculous not to predict Moss when I’m predicting Witherspoon but no one seems to be talking about Moss whilst Witherspoon has been very visible in the media and benefits from being on the first page of the ballot for half of voters. Whilst Davis, Oh and Kidman also have been very visible they haven’t been nowhere near as visible as Witherspoon.

Eh. They would have easily won last year and possibly in 2016 and This is Us could have very easily won in 2017 anyway.

The adoration for Dinklage would have gone so far. I agree about This is us.
