Jennifer Aniston has drama actress emmy in her bag. I love Olivia but jennifer’s performance in the morning show was better.

What will be very exciting on nominations day to see is which show has won the Game of Thrones voters in 2018 and 2019 over. Both Ozark and The Crown managed to get quite close to the Series trophy on their own without the support of Thrones voters so it will be interesting to see if they are the shows who benefit. Likewise Succession’s themes of Machiavellianism, betrayal and family really fit some of the thematic aspects of GoT and is HBO’s big push in Drama this year so it will be interesting to see if they benefit.

I would be very surprised (pleasantly) if The Handmaid’s Tale or Better Call Saul got the GoT votes (get the pun?).

Yeah, sure, she is being cancelled because her boyfriend is possibly a Trump Supporter by crazy people in Twitter. Cancel Culture is toxic and no one can stand it anymore.

I mean is it even confirmed her boyfriend is a Trump supporter?

I think we’re giving Twitter too much credit. I mean I had a look at why she’s trending and around half the people who have tweeted (including academics, people in the industry and surprisingly tabloid journalists) are tweeting to say how ridiculous it is. Yes Twitter helps keep stories in the conversation (i.e. Viola and Sandra’s trending videos, Thandie’s article yesterday) but it isn’t the be all and end all. If it was then people would still be talking about Evan Rachel Wood’s controversial comments against Kobe Bryant.

In other news I think Thandie Newton is getting in à la Emilia Clarke (although I think the show isn’t getting anything else about the line) last year partly due to actors possibly feeling sympathy for her character being so badly written this season. I just need to decide who I am going to drop for her (I really don’t want to lose my 100/1 odds on Snook and Mbatha-Raw).

Of which you made deal when they came out.

I agree that this “rumor” means nothing at the moment, especially since it could easily be false. Even if it’s true, I’d assume that many voters have already turned in their ballots and probably aren’t attuned to this internet gossip. But I am not predicting her anyway, so yeah.

And that’s the point I’m trying to make lmao. We already know that this means nothing, whether it happens during voting or before voting.

It only is a big deal when it is an actual story (i.e. William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman).

I think this would only be impactful if big publications start making articles about it, as I doubt voters spend their day lurking twitter trends.

But between the fully white writers room, Eve being more and more sidelined, Sandra Oh highlighting the lack of diversity on set and now Jodie possibly dating a trump supporter (which makes us question her own views), Killing Eve quickly became one of the most problematic show on tv (the quality already was).

It’s so strange how fast your show can go through a downward spiral once you’re dumped by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The behind-the-scenes makeup was established under Waller-Bridge’s umbrella, so I am not sure that’s a fair statement (though the new showrunners could have tried to change things). As for quality, I agree. The show went downhill the moment she left the ship.

As juicy as this role was for Sandra in season 1, I think she deserves much, much better now.

    I was being sarcastic.

Tbh I always thought it was kinda rude how vocal PWB was supporting Jodie to win the Emmy last year when Sandra was the frontrunner…

I know! They really shouldn’t be treating one star with more value than the other (it was vice versa for season 1 in terms of who got the preferential awards push).

They should take a note out of Dead to Me’s book.

If Newton gets nominated it won’t be because people feel bad for her because her character was poorly written lol. And that’s not the reason Clarke was nominated last year, either. That’s nonsense.

It wasn’t THE reason but the fact that both Clarke and Newton sort of brought their own things to their badly written roles in their seasons is partly why the Television Academy chose to nominate them.
