Or maybe Emilia Clarke got in because Game of Thrones snagged a record-smashing 32 nominations and she gave her series-best performance? That sounds more like it.

This wasn’t the only reason she got in.

Clarke was getting in with or without the publicity regarding her brain aneurysms.

LMAO I am not talking about her brain aneurysms.

I am talking about the writing for her character on the show and the fact that critics and audiences alike praised her performance for being able to do something on her own with it after the writers treated the writing of her character so badly.

The behind-the-scenes makeup was established under Waller-Bridge’s umbrella, so I am not sure that’s a fair statement (though the new showrunners could have tried to change things). As for quality, I agree. The show went downhill the moment she left the ship. As juicy as this role was for Sandra in season 1, I think she deserves much, much better now.

Sandra Oh deserves so much more. It might be too late to course correct too. The damage has been done.

Tbh I always thought it was kinda rude how vocal PWB was supporting Jodie to win the Emmy last year when Sandra was the frontrunner…

And that part? So wrong. Inappropriate of PWB and downright embarrassing for Oh.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen evidence of a title character being so sidelined before. I find it hard to believe there hasn’t been tension since then.

In other news I think Thandie Newton is getting in à la Emilia Clarke (although I think the show isn’t getting anything else about the line) last year partly due to actors possibly feeling sympathy for her character being so badly written this season.

    What a reaching comparison…

So… from what I gathered people on Twitter started to “cancel” Jodie because (apparently) her boyfriend has the same name of a guy who wears a MAGA hat and is a Trump supporter…wow. This has reached such a “ridicolous” level that the media and other famous people had to came out in support for Jodie. People really don’t have nothing better to do with their lives.

FYC Emmys: Helena Bonham Carter (Drama Supporting Actress), Olivia Colman (Drama Actress), Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Drama Actress), Fiona Shaw (Drama Supporting Actress), Zendaya (Drama Actress), Alexis Bledel (Drama Guest Actress)

It wasn’t THE reason but the fact that both Clarke and Newton sort of brought their own things to their badly written roles in their seasons is partly why the Television Academy chose to nominate them.

Whether you believe it was THE reason they were nominated or not, it’s still a bizarre statement to make. Clarke was a previous nominee and Game of Thrones was an absolute juggernaut. It’s absurd to think voters even thought to vote for Clarke simply because they believed she did well with a poorly written character. She was getting in regardless. As for Newton, she literally won last time she was nominated. They obviously like her performance. “Sympathy” played and would play zero factor in the voting process for Clarke and Newton.

To think that had Watchmen stayed in Drama Series it pretty much would have won everything in Drama apart from Writing and maybe Supporting Actor lmao.

Eh, what? It can win all that stuff over in limited, too. In fact, it can easily win writing and supp. actor as well. What a random comment.

You really need to stop reading into what I am saying too much.

I wasn’t saying it can’t win those stuff on the Limited side LMAO. I was saying that considering how Ozark has its weakness with writers and Succession’s with actors that had Watchmen stayed in Drama it may have become that show that would have had support from all the branches.

I am actually predicting Watchmen to win Series, Supporting Actor, Writing and Directing on the Limited side. But had it been on the Drama side I think it would have taken Actress and Supporting Actress (along with Series and Directing) hands down (it could still very well win those on the Limited side).

Yes, Regina faces Cate in the limited category, but she’d be facing Laura, Linney and Jen in Drama Actress. The show would be up against Ozark and Succession in Drama Series. Jeremy Irons probably wouldn’t even be nominated in drama actor, nor would the supporting players stand much of a chance at winning.

I think Smart and Nelson would easily win their categories (at least Smart) and I think Irons could have continued the first season win trend.

I also think it very easily would have taken directing so considering it would have had support from the actors branch, directors branch and probably a sufficient amount of support from the writers branch it could have easily won Drama Series.

But nonetheless I like the fact it is in Limited Series because it gives Succession room to deservingly win Drama Series, Actor, Writing and Directing whilst Watchmen also deservingly gets to sweep.

I really think the societal narrative is going to push “Watchmen” to sweep limited and I mean full sweep. I can’t remember the last time a program premiered and grew in prescience (a case could be made for Handmaids season one) as time passed. I have not even seen the show so I’m saying this a little blind.
