I don’t think Colman will ultimately win, however I wouldn’t be mad if she did. But no other Drama Lead Actress was nominated at TCA, so…

I was shocked but then I realized it made sense. A lot of critics dropped Ozark after season 2 and even season 3 reviews it wasn’t strong enough for the TCA. People are still mixed on TMS despite it landing best new series so Jennifer was out and Reese was just terrible. Big little lies 2 was a disappointment so no Kidman and Reese again a double whammy for her.Killing eve season 3 had dead reviews so no comer and oh. Same thing for the crown so no Olivia. Ironically the only female actor  who got in that was from a drama series was Rhea Seehorn in the supporting role but that  because BCS had the stronger reviews compare to the other drama series described above. I wonder if Sarah snook would’ve gotten it too because sucession had rave reviews but than I realize Jeremy took the votes away from her and Brian cox

Imagine thinking Colman still stands a chance.

Who will win then? Aniston? Linney? Comer? Moss? Kidman?

Linney ‘s win is obvious for me

It’s not that obvious. Aniston is just as likely, if not more.

False. Laura has a better track record,  and Ozark is ahead of The Morning Show in Drama Series. I mean, Jen still can win but saying she’s more likely is a stretch.

None of the Drama Actress frontrunners has a significant lead over the others. Nothing significant backs a Colman, Aniston or Linney win, although stans would contradict this.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see at this point a visible successor to the winners lineup of Davis, Maslany, Moss, Foy and Comer. Even Oh was bigger pre-nominations last year than this year’s contenders. The nominations and subsequent buzz will be crucial.

I remember a year ago people were making early predictions for Olivia to win the Emmy because of the surprise Oscar win. People were hyping her up as the front runner than when people actually watched season 3 of the crown the opposite happened. People found Olivia to be underwhelming rightfully so and Helena stole her buzz. But even Helena who was a frountrunner for a while is losing her buzz with Sarah and Rhea coming up the surface as front runners

People are now seriously considering Succession for acting nominations? Finally!

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

If the last season of GoT with the same amount of buzz/ratings were to compete against the current field, could GoT have lost or was it too much of a juggernaut? Wondering since a lot of people last year were saying GoT had no competition given how many ran away to avoid competing. Though the current T2 were both up against it (though they appear buzzier/more acclaimed now).

Hard to say. Seasons 5 and 7 were divisive, but they won over big, critically acclaimed shows. However, season 8 was a backlash that the show had never seen before, so it’s possible an industry favorite might’ve been able to beat them.

Sure hope it would’ve lost. The idea of that shit beating Succession’s masterpiece of a second season (or beating any of the top contenders for that matter) is one I’d rather not think about.

Not only would The Crown season 3, Ozark season 3 and Succession season 2 deserve to beat GoT season 8 had it aired this year but also Big Little Lies season 2, The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 and Stranger Things season 3 would deserve to be higher than it (and of course Mindhunter season 2 and The Good Fight season 4 which goes without saying).

If GOT S8 competed this year what nominations do you think it would have received. I think it would have only got 2 supporting actors/actresses max, Clarke would have missed

    FYC 2020 EMMYS

COMEDY- SCHITTS CREEK in all categories, Maya Rudolph, Eddie Murphy

DRAMA- Killing Eve in all categories, HBC, Cicely Tyson, The Crown in directing

LIMITED- UNBELIEVABLE, Normal People in writing and directing, Toni Collette, Tituss Burgess

    FYC OSCARS- Amy Adams

Lol… Game of Thrones would’ve still won Outstanding Drama Series along with Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage. Emilia Clarke would have never missed for that final season. And maybe instead of the 32 nominations… it might have received… 30?

That show was unlike any other. None of the contenders this year would’ve won against it.

These what-if Game of Thrones discussions are so tired. We can’t know what would have happened. Period.

Exactly. And Game of Thrones never ran away from anything… they ran away from Thrones because they knew exactly what would happen. Valar Morghulis!

But what if Game of Thrones never aired?

    Just kidding.
