Kieran Culkin is so lucky that he randomly snagged a Golden Globe nomination for the first season, otherwise no one would predict him over Matthew Macfadyen. IMO, only Macfadyen deserves a nomination among the male supporting cast.
But he went on to get another Globe nomination for the second season while Macfadyen, previously nominated at Critics Choice for S1, got snubbed at CC for S2.

I can’t believe despite being very involved with awards you are able to say this.
July 14, 2020 at 6:17 am #1203585103Well he is of course and deservingly the frontrunner for the WIN. But for the nomination Crudup is the frontrunner.
Pelphrey is not the frontrunner lol. I’m pretty sure y’all considered Newton frontrunner in 2017 because of her SAG nom and it’s the same here.
But she was the frontrunner for the nomination…
Erm, anyways… So Ozark isn’t even in the top 10 Netflix programs of the year… the stans tried it.
Snowpiercer sweep LMAO.

July 14, 2020 at 6:47 am #1203585158At the Emmys, I think this is what it looks like in terms of nominations chances (in bold who I am actually predicting): Cox> Jones> Strong> Snook> Culkin> Macfadyen> Hunter> Cromwell> Walter> Smith-Cameron> Braun Whether it’s Ozark S3 or Succession S2 that claims the drama series prize, I will be happy regardless.
I think Macfadyen is ahead of Culkin for the nomination. I also just finished season 2 and I just don’t see Culkin being ahead of Macfadyen. The former is good but is not dramatic enough, specially compared to what the latter did this season. And I also think Snook is ahead of both Jones and Strong for the nomination. Jones is twice on the ballot for Succession and for a role she won last year. Its pretty clear she will receive votes from both sides. Lets see if that doesn’t screw up her chances of a nomination. Strong was really good, my favorite episode for him was actually the finale, but he’s way too subtle and way internal. Not to mention many voters might feel like he’s more supporting than lead. I don’t know it’s a guess.

Maybe we are all underestimating Space Force…

I mean, with unlimited slots, they can check off her twice. I swear if she misses for this and is nominated for THT…
People will call me crazy, but she single-handedly stole the season for me. She better be nominated.

You have a point but do you really think voters will check her off twice?! I’m not saying they won’t but I just find that strange. But it’s definetly a possibility.
She has one of the best guest performances of the Year. She should definetly be nominated. And I don’t think you’re crazy for having her as your MVP of the season. I mean… Jane Lapotaire was my MVP of The Crown.
July 14, 2020 at 7:42 am #1203585216Frankly, I have no idea. I only have her in for Succession, but that seems unrealistic. Honestly, I see her getting checked off twice before I see her missing altogether.

I really don’t think she’s getting a double nomination. She either gets in for Succession or gets completely shut out. I just don’t see her getting in THT this year. And I hope she doesn’t. We also don’t have any clue how acting branch will react to Succession, thats another reason why I have her getting snubbed but I don’t know. I think we will have a lot of surprises come nominations morning.

I agree. It’s a shame Holly Hunter appeared in too many episodes otherwise she could have won Guest Actress (and it’s an even further shame that she probably will be the second to last Succession actress in terms of chances of being nominated in Supporting Actress).

I think this year we will see surprises with the acting branch. I think apart from Ozark and The Crown (which will overperform or perform reasonably well as they would in normal times following their SAG successes) there is a possibility that shows that got snubbed at SAG for ensemble (Succession, This is Us, The Morning Show to name a few) might over-perform whilst shows that got in at SAG (Big Little Lies, The Handmaid’s Tale and Stranger Things) might underperform with the acting branch to the extent one of them may almost be shut out.

Viola looked stunning in this whole photoshoot.
