I think at the minute HBC will comfortably win. If someone like Fiona Shaw, Sarah Snook or Gugu Mbatha Raw are nominated, then I think they could pull off a win.

Fiona Shaw will never win an Emmy for that performance.

I think you need to open up a dictionary and look for the definition of a frontrunner as that’s what I was predicting (not winners).

Why did you take this as an attack? This is what many of us here are predicting, and it’s a wholly logical lineup. My point was that it’s rather “worrisome” that there is such a consensus, since that usually bites us in the ass.

I just want to remind people here that whilst we’re talking about upsets happening all the time in the Drama categories that some people on here were predicting The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 to win everything it was nominated for apart from Supporting Actor in 2018.

People need to stop acting like people are saying it’s a done deal or there is no way that Garner can overcome vote splitting with McTeer because no one is saying that. Likewise people who are Ozark, Succession and The Crown fans need to stop thinking that their shows are invincible and are going to win everything because that’s one) very unlikely to happen and two) at this stage the nominations haven’t even come out yet so how can anyone be certain on who or what is going to win? After all I hope people know shocks happen on nominations morning.

I mean if we were saying things are a done deal from two weeks before nominations morning then Veep would have won Series, Actress and Directing lmao.

Because it clearly isn’t the consensus if you read the last few pages of the previous thread and very clearly see that we literally had a debate on how likely it is.

I take this as an attack because you literally attack every comment I have posted on this site for some reason for the past few days (even comments that are a week old). I just want to put this animosity behind us and go back to talking about what we love to talking about and that is awards season.

Like people said, Mcteer is got a lot to do, arguably being the rock in Marty and Wendy’s shoes this season, literally until the last second, much like Ruth’s dad was on season 2, giving her more than in season 3.

But this is actually false. In season 2 she had mostly scenes with her dad, Wyatt and Marty, this season she had Marty, Wyatt, Wendy, Helen, Darlene, Maya, Sam, Frank Cosgrove Jr. and Ben, she was part of every storyline. Her scenes with Ben and Frank Cosgrove Jr. were much more in quantity, they are literally much more minutes of screen time than her scenes with her dad, they were also equally emotional and complex.

If they were in the same category at the Emmys, they will cancel each other, this is more than obvious.

Are you expecting them to lose SAG then? Because Linney and Garner are most likely going to be nominated against each other

And we already know that they both vote split at SAG (see 2019).

Although I think if Anderson is nominated with Colman then Linney has SAG in the bag.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear on the conclusion. I meant to say that Ruth is not in the main storyline, that, in my opinion, is Mcteer turning against Marty and Wendy, which they built with the arrest of her daughter with the Byrde’s kids and then the revelation made by Ben. Ruth is borderline in all that, just making Ben stop taking his meds and go nuts over her beating, while Mcteer is at the center of it, like Ruth was in season 2, because the main threat to the Byrde’s was her father.

Jessica Frances Dukes? Over Ann Dowd, Fiona Shaw and pretty much everyone else?

The funniest thing that could happen this season is if we continue to argue over Garner and McTeer just for McTeer to get snubbed lol.

Since, apparently, you need to clarify everything on this site or else someone will twist your words – I am not predicting, nor do I want, McTeer to get snubbed.

    She could easily happen.

We know Ozark has a TON of acting support. Whether it is from the fact it got the highest number of Drama nominations at SAG in 2019 despite The Handmaid’s Tale and Killing Eve also being eligible or the fact that it literally already has an acting trophy.

If many here are predicting Ozark to do very well I don’t see why we should consider the possibility of Frances Dukes riding the show’s coattails (although I am not predicting her to get in at the moment). I mean the other day Riley pointed out how acute she was with her submission by including the words ‘Special Agent’ in her character name submission (which in a way is a strategic way at getting round the word limit count limit for character bios).

I feel like we’re really underestimating self submitters from widely seen shows a lot this year. Whether it is with Caroline Aaron from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Frances Dukes or Emerald Fennell from The Crown (obviously not with people like that Maisel extra whose name I can’t remember). I mean I know GoT was the biggest show in the world but it managed to get Alfie Allen last year when he self submitted despite the show not being an actors branch favourite.

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

Alfie Allen last year when he self submitted despite the show not being an actors branch favourite.

Alfie Allen played a character who’d been on the show since the very beginning, one who’d been a vital part of the show from beginning to end, who had a pitch-perfect, emotional (albeit brief) send-off in his submitted episode.

Jessica Frances Dukes has legitimately no shot. That’s one of the more absurd suggestions I’ve seen on here. Especially when you have her over Dowd, who hasn’t not been nominated for this role so far AND who has won!

In addition to that, he was also widely regarded as one of the series’ best actors, with several fans saying he should’ve been nominated in previous seasons.
