The argument wasn’t THT over these because it got into SAG. SAG ensemble nod is just an indication that show is not yet done. Among these shows, THT is actually very possible to get both Directing and Writing plus multiple acting nods than any of these. THT has shown arguably bigger strength than them.

But both Stranger Things and THT got snubbed at DGA.

    Oscars FYC:
"Shiva Baby" – in all categories especially Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Score
"Together" – in all categories especially Actress (Sharon Horgan), Actor (James McAvoy), Original Screenplay
"CODA" – in all categories especially Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur)
"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Supporting Actor (Richard E. Grant), Supporting Actress (Sarah Lancashire)
"I'm Your Man" – International Feature
"Summer of Soul" – Documentary Feature

For the last time, DGA recognized three shows: Game of Thrones, Watchmen and Succession. GOT is no longer eligible and Watchmen has shifted to limited. That race tells us nothing else than that Succession is a lock for the nomination.

I do agree with you that it’s the most likely of those shows to get into bith writing and directing (I’m only predicting the former) but it’s still got snubbed at DGA, WGA and PGA – while Big Little Lies actually managed to get to into the latter. It’s still a popular show but lets not pretend the buzz and support for the show aren’t on shaky ground.

    WGA

It did not get snubbed at WGA.

Really?! I’m sorry then. I thought someone said it had been snubbed there. Then that just made me even more sure of its writing nomination.

Which also means it doesn’t tell us that The Handmaid’s Tale is above Stranger Things in Directing LMAO.

I mean by that logic then we’re DEFINITELY underestimating both Succession and This is Us in acting considering that SAG chose to nominate GoT for Ensemble and not those two and now GoT’s slot has been freed up.

Yup, it was nominated alongside Succession (winner), Watchmen, Mindhunter and The Crown in Best Drama. It was snubbed in episodic, but it was also snubbed there for its first season – its only nomination there is for season 2’s “First Blood” – so that category isn’t an indication for anything (Mr. Robot, Ray Donovan and The OA got in over THT, Watchmen and several more, just to lend credence to my argument).

Which also means it doesn’t tell us that The Handmaid’s Tale is above Stranger Things in Directing LMAO.

    No one said it was.

    I rest my case.

    Possible doesn’t mean definite.

    Possible doesn’t mean definitive.

And no one was saying anyone was saying it is definitive? I mean the fact that the user suggested The Handmaid’s Tale is more likely to get both writing and directing than something like Stranger Things (which could very well still have a lot of support from both branches) is false when arguably both are in the same position in Directing.

I mean many of us have predicted four to six acting nominations for Succession and Watchmen for months and people make it sound like we’re saying it’s definitive when we’re just flaunting possibilities so I find this quite an ironic thing to say.

We probably are tho, considering how it overperformed compared to our predictions last year and we have always assumed it’s harder for it to be nominated at SAG than win. 3 times nominee Ventimiglia returning is more likely than we think, imo.

If Succession doesn’t score any acting nominations and Ozark is snubbed in writing again, would this mean The Crown is the winner? I find the first case highly unlikely to happen but how many acting nominations does Succession need in order to win series?

    Cox/Strong/Snook/Culkin is enough imo.
