I think Holly Hunter is way more likely than Smith-Cameron

    Have you seen the ballot?

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

No one needs to see a ballot to know that Oscar winner and mutliple Emmy nominee Holly Hunter, who has a juicy role and is thoroughly fantastic, is ahead of J. Smith-Cameron, who, yes, is great but doesn’t get the dramatic material. Smith-Cameron being ahead of Snook on the ballot means little to nothing, and I think people will regret taking the placements so seriously.

I really do think The Crown is going to underperform, while Succession and Ozark overperform.

The show that won SAG ensemble is only going to underperform if literally a majority of all the Drama categories are Succession and Ozark.

Overperform/Underperform The Crown if they underperform: Series, Colman, Bonham Carter, Writing, Directing if they perform solidly: Series, Colman, Menzies, Bonham Carter, O’Connor, Dance, Lapotaire, Writing, Directing If they overperform: Series, Colman, Menzies, Bonham Carter, O’Connor, Dance, Lewis Jacob, Lapotaire, Fennell, Writing, Directing, Directing Ozark if they underperform: Series, Bateman, Linney, Garner, Directing if they perform solidly: Series, Bateman, Linney, Garner, McTeer, Pelphrey, Directing if they overperform: Series, Bateman, Linney, Pelphrey, Garner, McTeer, Writing, Directing, Directing Succession if they underperform: Series, Cox, Writing, Directing, Directing if they perform solidly: Series, Cox, Strong, Snook, Jones, Writing, Directing, Directing if they overperform: Series, Cox, Strong, Culkin, Macfadyen, Snook, Jones, Walter, Writing, Directing, Directing Better Call Saul if they underperform: Series, Odenkirk, Banks, Writing if they perform solidly: Series, Odenkirk, Banks, Esposito, Writing, Writing if they overperform: Series, Odenkirk, Banks, Esposito, Seehorn, Norris, Writing, Writing, Directing The Morning Show: if they underperform: Aniston, Crudup if they perform solidly: Series, Aniston, Crudup if they overperform: Series, Aniston, Witherspoon, Carell, Crudup, Duplass, Mbatha Raw, Short, Kaling, Directing The Handmaids Tale: if they underperform: Bledel, Writing if they perform solidly: Series, Moss, Whitford, Bledel, Jones, Fagbenle, Writing if they overperform: Series, Moss, Dowd, Strahovski, Whitford, Bledel, Dretzin, Jones, Fagbenle, Meloni, Writing, Directing Stranger Things: if they underperform: Total Shutout if they solidly perform: Series, Harbour, Directing if they overperform: Series, Harbour, Brown, Writing, Directing Big Little Lies: if they underperform: Streep, Dern if they perform solidly: Series, Kidman Streep, Dern if they overperform: Series, Kidman, Streep, Dern, Scott, Writing Killing Eve if they underperform: total shutout if they perform solidly: Comer, Oh if they overperform: Series, Comer, Oh, Shaw, Writing This is Us: if they underperform: Brown, Cephas Jones, Rashad if they perform solidly: Brown, Cephas Jones, McRaney, Rashad if they overperform: Series, Brown, Ventimiglia, Moore, Sullivan, Cephas Jones, Rashad, Adlon Westworld: if they underperform: Total Shutout if they perform solidly: Total Shutout if they overperform: Series, Wood, Newton, Paul, Wright, Directing

I don’t see how Succession getting Culkin and Macfadyen in is an over-performance.

Also Charles Dance is a lock.

Just to say that Oscar winner and multiple Emmy nominee Holly Hunter missed for Top of the Lake where she had a similarly juicy role that she was thoroughly fantastic in. She could potentially be behind Smith-Cameron (although let’s be honest she should be getting nominated this year if the Academy was fair).

As much as I’ve praised Hunter to high heaven, I don’t actually think she should be nominated in a field of 8. Would I be mad if she was? Definitely not, because she’s terrific. But do I want her to edge out someone like Ann Dowd, Yvonne Strahovski or Janet McTeer? No. The field is just too crowded this year for either one of Hunter or Smith-Cameron to get in. This is Snook’s playground and her playground only.

Ok I want to throw out the possibility of something that I am not predicting but that I do think is possible: the actors shut out Succession.

I really don’t think this is going to happen. The buzz is powerful. That being said they couldn’t even get Cromwell nominated in guest over Kumail Nanjiani. And the argument is that the actors could have watched since then, but it was still shut out for season 2 at SAG. That being said, I realize SAG is slow sometimes, and that the buzz is too powerful, but it is something that I fear is a possibility.

I know this is the wrong place to put this but I was wondering how did Justified get nominated for 4 acting Emmys in 2011 despite getting shut out at SAG and failing to get a Series nomination?

I don’t know but i’m glad it did. Love the show and it deserved so many more nominations than that. Binged it during lockdown, it’s soooooo good.

Ah I must binge this then! I’ve got too many things to watch! I have to finish StatelessBetter Call Saul and The Morning Show. I also have The Plot Against America and The Leftovers (I heard this is meant to be a good show?) on my watchlist.

I think it would show Killing Eve has over-performed if Sandra Oh gets a nomination LMAO.

Just out of interest why do you think The Morning Show can get a directing nomination and why do you think Aaron Paul can happen if Westworld over-performs but not previous nominee Ed Harris?

The second season was excellent Margo Martindale and Jeremy Davies were phenomenal.

The Leftovers (I heard this is meant to be a good show?)

One of the best of the past decade. I hope you enjoy it.

I was surfing through some of The Morning Show‘s promotional FYC stuff including stuff they’ve done on Social Media and I noticed that particular on Social Media Carell isn’t being pushed as much as the other cast members. I mean take their FYC interviews on their Insta page. Even Karen Pittman and Desean Terry have had FYC interviews done but there are none for Carell.

I also was looking at the initial viewership of HBO shows eligible this season and according to the link below these shows (I have taken out those like GoT which aren’t eligible) are in the top 10 of the networks viewership (RIP Run which is in the bottom ten lol)

    https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/hbo-tv-show-ratings-33447/ :

Current/latest season’s ratings data, sorted by initial airings :

    1. Big Little Lies
    2. The Outsider
    3. Westworld
    4. Watchmen
    5. Curb Your Enthusiasm
    6. Succession
    7. Euphoria
    8. The Righteous Gemstones
    9. Ballers
    10. His Dark Materials

It’s Emmy’s were for it’s 2nd season which aired in February 2011. As opposed to the SAG eligible 1st season from 2010.
