Not here for this Smith-Cameron erasure. She certainly had material, particularly in the second season – she didn’t have “nothing to do,” she is one of the most prominent supporting characters. Comparing the size of her role to Abbass is ridiculous.

Not sure why she is so triggering for people.  She is also a character actress with decades of credits who is married to Kenneth Lonergan…

What’s her material? Phone sex with Culkin? If that’s worthy of recognition then they better expand the slots to 50.

The comment you quoted «regardless they were beyond outstanding and both should easily win» you deliberately dismissed that part and focused on the criticism, that’s telling. Writing all these essays isn’t gonna change the fact that Linney had a more baity material to work with, but you won’t admit it since your point of view is already biased by the fact that you are an unconditional stan. You’re talking about editors being biased with their predictions as if you weren’t, you can’t even stand the fact that someone’s else is predicted to win over Linney I mean seriously… Anyways, I’m rooting for her and I hope this brings peace to your heart.

I’m not an unconditional stan. I’ve said before that she didn’t deserve to win for season two, and that Comer deserved to win last year. But this is a new season with different players, and just as I think Comer earned her win last year almost head and shoulders above everyone else, I think the same for Linney.

I’m not going to try to prove anything to you. Apparently you need to feel like you’re better than someone at something, and I just happened to engage you at the right time.

I’m sorry I didn’t 100% agree with your post, which clearly triggered you.

Ugh. Don’t remind me about the fact that Keri Russell never won an Emmy for The Americans. What a freaking shame.

I mentioned that Bateman clearly decided to give his co-star more to do this season when discussing how some viewers didn’t like how much the season focused on Wendy.

Even with Bateman’s generosity, that does not somehow change the show’s entire makeup. Yes, Linney was a major focus of the season, but it’s still a story primarily told through Marty’s POV and driven by his choices.

Just as The Morning Show gives Witherspoon plenty to do, the show is still driven primarily by Alex’s state of mind and her choices.

    This isn’t rocket science.

The fact that you felt compelled to search my posts from a few days ago doesn’t take away from what I said then or now.

You’re making a mountain out of a mole hill, and then judging me for defending my perspective simply because you’re cherry-picking logic. Put me on mute if you can’t stand my comments.

Abbas asking Hunter if she has checked herself for any STDs since they are both f*cking the same man now is one of my favorite scenes of the entire show, so I completely agree with you.

Lmfao she’s such a mood! I will never forget the scene where she told Shiv she was a sl*t the night before her wedding and that “fuck off” had me dying. Snook was equally as shook as I was.

The Ramy writers probably saw her on the show, heard her impeccable line delivery when delivering drags and wrote her something similar (though exactly meant to be comedic) on their show.

I loved the scene in which she told Shiv that she overdid it in the interview. I felt that “It was too much.”

Abbass is levels above Smith-Cameron in this show. I loved her work in Margaret and Rectify (both of which deserved recognition) so it’s not a case of being ‘triggered’, and she does a good job with Gerri, but not every good performance needs awards attention.

No one said Smith-Cameron would get in based on her performance. Seems like we just wanna argue about anything.

But what is it based on?

Her ballot position doesn’t give her that much of an advantage – by that same logic, Abbass’ position at the top of half of the ballots should be beneficial too? Her material is pretty one note throughout. She is quite a well-known actress in the industry, but so is Abbass (who appears in another Emmy contender and gives a great performance in that). An advantage she has is the whole Gerri-Roman dynamic which has attracted some discussion, but I’m still not seeing any narrative that gets her in.

Nice to see Hiam Abbass getting mentioned by someone. As I wrote in another topic, I really don’t understand why they gave her so little material in S2 (S1 was slightly more acceptable, although not enough). She delivers my favorite performance of the show together with Cox. I would nominate her in guest, which is where she’d belong (ignoring current Emmy rules).

Yes, I have searched your posts from few days ago because they showed that Linney was somewhat advantaged as Bateman asked the writers to give a a lot more to do, which is contradictory to what you said because she clearly was #1 on Ozark’s callsheet at least for this past season.

Jesus Huckleberry Christ. Go do some research on what call sheets actually are and what they denote for cast members.

She should actually be a co-lead. She’s that good. There is so much to explore with their marital dynamic and it would be a missed opportunity to overlook that in favour of Kendall trying to take over the company and failing for the 4th time.
