What’s her material? Phone sex with Culkin? If that’s worthy of recognition then they better expand the slots to 50.

That was amazingly good phone sex though.

But what is it based on?

Her ballot position doesn’t give her that much of an advantage – by that same logic, Abbass’ position at the top of half of the ballots should be beneficial too? Her material is pretty one note throughout. She is quite a well-known actress in the industry, but so is Abbass (who appears in another Emmy contender and gives a great performance in that). An advantage she has is the whole Gerri-Roman dynamic which has attracted some discussion, but I’m still not seeing any narrative that gets her in.

I mentioned that Smith-Cameron could get a coattail nomination in an extremely well scenario for Succession because she’s right next to Snook on the ballot. We are predicting Snook to get in, so with unlimited choices, it seems easy for voters to check off both performers.

I think she has some solid material in Tern Haven, and even Hunting.

JSC: If you think about it, a lot of things happen and that’s exactly the operative thing that’s at work, is that you don’t know how to feel. You’re back and forth. The way they cut it was brilliant. In one moment, she’s disgusted and in another, she’s kind of laughing and in the next, she’s flirting. When he’s in the bathroom, she’s kind of relieved. It’s a mistake to reduce anything to one reaction.

She’s not as showy as other performers, but that’s not what the part requires anyway. Hopefully they’ll expand her role next season so she can have better chances.

I just finished Succession season 1 and I’m about to start season 2. This show is a creative force. The writing is some of the best screenplay work I’ve seen in recent years. These actors play off of each other so well which is not an easy feat as an actor. However, I’m not surprised that it missed acting last year. It reminds me of Game of Thrones season 1 by it being an incredibly ensemble-based cast (besides Dinklage, of course). But the SAG ensemble snub is pretty unforgivable. Jeremy Strong definitely should have at least gotten a nomination last year because, in my opinion, he was the strongest of the cast in Season 1. But does anyone else think that this show may be too smart for Emmy voters? Yes, it was competing against Breaking Bad but Game of Thrones couldn’t win best Drama Series until it was seriously dumbed down in Season 5. Succession is definitely a show you have to pay attention to and you can’t miss anything, much like the first four seasons of Game of Thrones. So far, I love the show but just after seeing how they vote, I wonder if Succession may be too smart for them. I really want to give the voters the benefit of the doubt but… it’s hard. Especially after how they’ve voted these last couple of years. I do think it’s the best drama out there right now though. Just a thought.

Flirting and being disgusted is not material. This site is too much sometimes.

But you are predicting a McTeer snub. Make it make sense…

So? How is that similar to Smith-Cameron potentially getting a coattail nomination? And I’m not even predicting Smith-Cameron.

I could very easily be wrong not predicting McTeer, but aren’t we all predicting an eventual snub? My reasoning is the ballot placement, which doesn’t sound like a strong argument, but I’m willing to die on that hill.

Fun fact: slime puppy was an ad-lib because they kept the camera rolling and she had run out of dialogue.

I love Succession and I think Smith-Cameron is great on it, but I’ve never seriously considered her as being Emmy worthy on it. She’s really secondary to the other characters and doesn’t have much in the way of a dramatic arc.

It is very weak actually. And Snook herself is far from being a lock, so thinking that she would have the power to bring a tertiary role like Cameron’s is a big stretch.

If you’re going to use the ballot argument – which I think is a bad idea – then at least be consistent. If you think Snook can possibly carry along Smith-Cameron, then I hope you also believe Streep can carry along Strahovski.

I don’t believe in either scenario, but it seems fairly convenient to then pick and choose who benefits and who doesn’t. Honestly, if we went by this, we’d have 50 nominees.

I might be wrong what you mean, but the comment you quoted is referring to McTeer, not Snook/Smith-Cameron.

Snook is predicted to get in according to our overall odds, so we are assuming that she has support. If I had unlimited choices, I would vote for both since they are next to each other.

But let’s put an end to the Smith-Cameron discussion. She’s not happening and yet we can’t stop discussing it.

They are not even on the same show, so the same theory doesn’t apply here. Once again, I’m not predicting Smith-Cameron, I don’t get why everyone is getting upset.

Are y’all really that bored? Snook is the only one with a shot and she even will barely get in.

I understand she isn’t a lock but hearing someone who is predicting GLOW and I Know This Much is True say Snook will barely get in is truly ironic.

FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!
