Okay……So with the exception of Succession (which I’m aware will most definitely be nominated and competitive for the win), I’ve either seen the entire season/seen the majority of episodes from all of the major contending shows.

I hope you’re all sitting and ready for this:

1- ‘Big Little Lies’ is better than all of them.

2- Reese Witherspoon deserves two slots in Drama Actress and is guaranteed one of the 6 slots.

3- ‘Westworld’ will certainly be receiving nominations again.

I think Westworld will receive nominations below the line but I don’t think it has a chance above the line. Actors don’t seem to love it anymore and the writers and directors have gone long past it. Plus it’s not even HBO’s second or third main push…

I do wonder with Tessa Thompson having performed reasonably well in that sample of 100 ballots and Thandie Newton having performed abysmally if Thompson might get in over Newton. After all it wasn’t as if she had a terrible performance this season.

I do think if Westworld manages to do the unexpected and hang on in Series, Actress, S. Actress and S. Actor that quality and critical/audience reception doesn’t matter anymore at the Emmys. Same with Killing Eve (although I think both are unlikely to return above the line apart from maybe Comer).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).
