Well said 😉 And you’re right. (Though I still think THT is much more hated here than anything else, lol)

Viola only having 1 Emmy for HTGAWM is completely ridiculous. I am not always the biggest fan of her work but she was definitely the best of the 2010s decade for me. She should have at least 3 Emmy’s for HTGAWM.

I don’t think Succession will be strong enough to win Drama Series unless it gets multiple acting nominations.

    2010: Mad Men – Season 3 (6)
    2011: Mad Men – Season 4 (7)
    2012: Homeland – Season 1 (2) won both
    2013: Breaking Bad – Season 5 (4) won 1
    2014: Breaking Bad – Season 5 (3) won all
    2015: Game of Thrones – Season 5 (4) won 1
    2016: Game of Thrones – Season 6 (6)
    2017: The Handmaid’s Tale – Season 1 (4) won 3
    2018: Game of Thrones – Season 7 (4) won 1
    2019: Game of Thrones – Season 8 (10) won 1

One win is more than enough for this performance and caricatural role. She was not more deserving than Maslany, Moss, Foy or Comer.

MC scores mean squat. Killing Eve (67) has a higher score than Westworld and The Morning show and is on par with Handmaid’s, yet we’ve pretty much established (I think) that those three shows are easily ahead of it. Plus, let’s not forget that HoC and Ozark have gotten in with lower scores. I don’t think KE is getting in, but I wouldn’t use its still-fine critic score as a reason. EDIT: Handmaid’s had a 68, but that doesn’t make much of a difference.

Critical reception matters. It’s not the only thing that matters but it can definitely hurt a show, especially one that’s fighting for 6th-7th spot.

This Colman/The Crown thing has been going on for a long while now, like that ridiculous hashtag. The one time that others defend the show and Colman, some users act like they aren’t being allowed to express their opinions when you guys literally dismissed people as liking Colman for the sake of it as soon as someone dared to disagree.

Of course. I was only speaking for myself 🙂 I’ve been told I use “IMO” too often, so I abstained from it.

I actually thought otherwise when you liked methaddiction’s post which kind of goes against what you just said..

The one time that others defend the show and Colman, some users act like they aren’t being allowed to express their opinions when you guys literally dismissed people as liking Colman for the sake of it when someone dared to disagree. That’s rich.

But the Colman stan thing was merely one comment… And I don’t think it’s entirely what methaddiction meant.

This isn’t the true at all. It is actually awkward. What is really happening here is people telling lies to just help their opinions, like “The Crown season 3 had no buzz, the season was hated by the critics and audience, Colman and HBC don’t having support by their sides”. It’s not people that don’t accept The Crown being criticized, but is people that don’t accept that The Crown have chances. It isn’t the love but the hate the show is getting in this forum that is nonsense. It not just a coincidence that this become more stronger when a Ozark for the first time get good reviews and people create a scenario. You already said about BLL and THT and there are plenty of people that support the show here, even if they actually had less support by the critics and general audiencie, specially THT.

I get what you mean, but I still feel like whenever someone mildly criticizes TC, people come with comments like “it’s ridiculous to not like HBC” or “Imagine not thinking Cri De Coeur is amazing” (these aren’t direct quotes) and that isn’t any better 🙂

I actually thought otherwise when you liked methaddiction’s post which kind of goes against what you just said..

I did like it, but then took it away once I thought about it again (though I agree with Colman not being nom-worthy).

That’s why I have Ozark taking it as of now. Because we already know Linney, Bateman and Garner are in. If Pelphrey gets in and it’s nominated in writing, then it’s probably winning. But, if we see surprise nominations such as McTeer and/or Emery, well, it’s undoubtedly winning.

I can’t believe my comment has people pressed. She was obviously impressive but don’t think she was the best in her field this year

You mean she should give her Emmy to Tatiana

I appreciate that and I respect your views on Colman, but even you’d agree that these random ‘#anyonebutcolman’ things are driven more out of dislike/hatred than the need for expressing one’s opinions.

If Succession misses with actors and Ozark gets into writing, Ozark is frontrunner.
If Ozark misses writing and Succession gets in with actors, Succession remains frontrunner.
If both miss, I guess the Crown is a weak frontrunner but they could still surprise.

As long as Succession gets Cox and/or Strong in, the race is still on, because it indicates actors have at least seen it. I think Sarah Snook and Matthew McFayden are win-worthy, but the show calls for performances that aren’t Emmy bait and doesn’t provide the classic “tape” for people to drool over, so I don’t think it can be seen as a sign of weakness if they miss. Look at Chernobyl vs When They See Us.

Ozark isn’t winning drama series, it’s a Netflix show lol. plus it’s neither winning nor getting nominated for Writing.

Why wouldn’t it get nominated for Writing?

Succession won’t be winning without support from actors and The Crown is also a Netflix show so I guess that’s not winning as well.

If you think she gave an impressive performance, than maybe don’t try to start an insulting hashtag against her.

Yes, fair enough. I don’t think someone of us mean that when we say “anyone but Colman.” I think if some of us – myself included – expressed things more eloquently, we wouldn’t always argue as much here haha. Well, it’s still friendly arguing, I’d say.

Do you guys think the nominations will still be announced on July 28?
