I liked Garner in season 3 but I don’t know if I want her to win two times in a row. It would be really nice Strahovski getting nominated and winning.

I wouldn’t be surprised because the academy is so lazy sometimes.

I wouldn’t count on that, as we already saw Harris get snubbed for the first season and Hopkins get snubbed for the second seasons, showing that the show’s voters aren’t just going to name check them. And those were for way better received season’s than Harris and especially Wright had this year.

Right now, I’m not predicting any of Westworld’s actor to make the cut.

I actually don’t think that was a good analysis at all. GD’s odds are much mord plausible IMO.

Please. No one thinks Hopkins had a better season in 2018 than Harris this year.

Please. No one thinks Hopkins had a better season in 2018 than Harris this year.

Well, I do. Harris was great, but his storyline was made up of pretty much nothing but wasted potential, which in turn felt like it was wasting his talent. First it seems like we’re gonna dive into his head and gain a deeper understanding of his character, which never happens. Then, it seems like he’s gonna go toe to toe with the hosts in an epic battle, which never happens. In all honesty, the only thing that his character added to the story was wounding Luke Hemsworth.

Hopkins in the second season is nowhere near as good as he was in the first, but he still managed to make the show feel a lot smarter than it actually is whenever he was onscreen.

The threats/possibilities/long-shots are a nice feature. It just shows how much talent is out there, which is astounding.

I’m watching ozark slowly because I don’t want it to end, but the show is so so good up until now. Just the last three episodes missing.

Hopkins […] still managed to make the show feel a lot smarter than it actually is whenever he was onscreen.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? While Westworld quite often misses the mark in terms of examining its philosophical questions in a clear and engaging way, I don’t think it’s particularly fair to suggest that the show only felt smart because of the performance of one actor in the show (if that’s what you were implying).

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Some of their predictions are a bit delusional but whatever…

Thats not what I’m implying. I’m just saying that Hopkins is such a good actor that he manages to truly elevate the material in a way that the other actors don’t. That’s not to say that they don’t elevate the material, as they clearly do, and they do so excellently. But Hopkins does it in a way that just feels effortless. There are moments in the show where I find myself highly invested in the great performances of Wood, Wright, Harris, and Newton, but still occasionally rolling my eyes at the messy writing and lines. With Hopkins, I always found myself taking all of his scenes completely seriously.

Most of it is very inconsistent with the overall predictions as well. Like TIU in series but only Brown for Lead Actor or Dern & Streep in but not Kidman. Even Succession winning series and predicting three different actors in the top three of their categories without Snook is lowkey not reasonable.
