Netflix could easily release a teaser for the upcoming season of  The Crown before voting for the winners ends and create buzz for Colman. They released one for season two in August, even though it premiered in December. Filming was unaffected by the pandemic and they have enough months for post-production to release it this November/December.

This is literally the most delusional list I’ve seen all year…

Cynthia Erivo should happen for The Outsider, though.

She definetly should but (sadly) I don’t see it happening with her competition being so fierce.

I can actually envision Erivo getting in although I wouldn’t go as far as to predict it. It relies on Big Little Lies/The Handmaid’s Tale/Westworld underperforming – and that could happen for all 3 (however unlikely). There is a lot of industry goodwill for her, her performance is deserving, and her show was quite widely seen.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

I guess it can be seen as retribution for getting nominated for an unworthy performance at last year’s Oscars.

I’m actually predicting Cynthia Erivo because Academy Award nominees of the year, or actors in film awards contention tend to be nominated by Television Academy as well unless they are in a nonstarter like Al Pacino and Jonathan Pryce this year. That’s how Allison Janney and Viola Davis managed to postpone voters abandoning them. Lauire Metcalf received a nomination for Roseanne even though the show was doomed due to the scandal. Michael Stuhlbarg wasn’t nominated for Fargo but thanks to Call Me by Your Name he was nominated for The Looming Tower. You can even add Mahershala Ali to the list. That’s why I’m confident with Cynthia Erivo and Laura Dern.

This is why I am confident with Dern but I’m not confident with Erivo, I think she could get in based on name check alone in the same way Margot Robbie could in Guest Actress for Dollface.

FYC Emmys : THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, SUCCESSION AND THE CROWN IN ALL CATEGORIES. Tony Shalhoub ("Maisel"), Cate Blanchett ("Mrs. America"), Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook ("Succession"), Tracey Ullman ("Mrs. America") and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Watchmen")

Ha! Excellent gif usage. But also, Jennifer Anniston, Lauren Linney, Elizabeth Moss and Jody Comer would like a word. 😂

Maybe we should install that “fact check” thing that is popping up on the social media platforms here.

That Oscar theory has been proved wrong so many times that I won’t even bother to give arguments.

I finished all 3 seasons of Ozark one week ago and still cannot stop thinking about it, especially about the third one. I really think that the Emmys are quite open until the end acting wise, unlike the Oscar, but in this occasion I really do not see how Linney and Pelphrey can lose. Tom Pelphrey’s performance on Ozark is the reason they give out Emmy’s, he is insanely good, maybe one of my favorite male performances ever, I wept for Ben really hard. And Linney is bombastic, a force of nature, she has 10 tapes, but in the end of episode 9 she made me cry like a baby. I have seen all important dramas in contention now (except The Outside and HTGAWAM) and no one is even closer to them.

What is even more perplexing is that Julia Garner is also amazing, what a talent, I managed to predict her win last year based on clips on YouTube, but having watched her I really consider her one of my favorites actresses ever (I discovered her in The Americans where she has a quite big and important role in some seasons/episodes and she is unrecognizable on Ozark). Her performance in season 3 is just breathtaking, she also has 10 tapes and she might go lead if she wants. Her final confrontation with Marty and Wendy might be iconic. I saw that some people her preferred or see Janet McTeer as a thread, but that cannot be more far from the truth, Garner was much better and with much bigger role. McTeer deserves the nomination, although, same goes for Lisa Emery, what a brave performance, that sec scene was just waw, her final scenes were brutal as well.

Finally, this was also Jason Bateman best season, his performance in episode 4 is astonishing, he is very underrated in this forum, but he has a huge fandom and the fans of the show adore him, especially, in season 3. He has been around forever and he acted and directed the sh*t out of this, he is very deserving.

It might be crazy, but I think that is possible that all 4 acting Drama winners come from Ozark. I can even see it wining Drama and Directing. Writing is out of reach, nothing can beat Succession.

Ozark season 3 gave me massive anxiety. That’s how you know a show is phenomenal. This is quality TV at its best. I saw a claim here that “many people committed to 20 slow-burning episodes because they’d been promised the third season was worth the ride”, but I completely disagree. Yes, the first two seasons had some issues, but they were very entertaining. Only the first half of season 1 was slow-paced, but it was very worthy, the final episodes were flawless. The biggest issue was the ugly cinematography and some of the chaotic story-lines. The directing and the acting was very good since the begging, I can see why directors love Bateman, he is a good storyteller, a perfect actor-director and he is a master at filming surprise and shocking sequences (the fate of the lover of Wendy in the pilot, the fate of Del in The Toll or the fate of Ash in his Emmy winning episode Reparations where he also builds tensions very well).
