I think the win is between Aniston, Colman and Linney, and no one else. But honestly, there are like 10 deserving winners in this category, so it’s very difficult to predict who’ll make the cut.

Emmys FYC - "Unbelievable" and "The Handmaid's Tale" in all categories; Viola Davis in Best Drama Actress for the final season of "HTGAWM;" "Ozark:" Drama Series, Laura Linney (Best Actress) and Julia Garner (Best Supporting Actress)

Given people were talking about him, I’d just like to add myself to the number of people praising Tony Dalton. I know he won’t make the cut, but a nomination for his scene stealing work would be inspired.

However, to me Banks is the strongest of the show’s supporting men this year. He was excellent throughout the whole season.

I agree I don’t think Kidman, Moss, Davis and Comer will be win competitive this time around regardless of how great they are because they already won and the lead categories don’t get repeat winners anymore.

I would be surprised if only Comer would be nominated for the third season. She was indeed very good in the fifth episode, but Sandra Oh brought a much more consistent performance in the season, not to mention Fiona Shaw. The fact that Oh is underrated for her performance is truly disappointing. Especially because this time around, you simply cannot say that Comer was miles better.

If voters check off Comer’s name, I do believe they’ll also name check the other two actresses.

I think we need to be careful with the use of “name-check.” Comer is a one-time nominee and one-time winner – hence, she hasn’t reached the name-check level yet. If she gets in, then because there’s still passion for her.

It wouldn’t be fair to separate Comer from the others because first, unlike them, she actually won an Emmy for the show, secondly, if you say Comer gets in through passion and the others through name check, you are dismissing Oh’s and Shaw’s fantastic turns. I think Killing Eve is at such a level and in such visibility that we can mention name check. And I wrote name check directly, not name recognition.

I don’t see much chance of them voting for Comer and not for the other two ladies if they really watched the season.

But I never even said that. Shaw, too, after two nominations (in the same year) isn’t a name-check. 10-time nominee Oh, on the other hand, might be. Let me clarify: name-check isn’t a strike against anyone’s performance; Viola Davis can be a name-check but still give a nom- or win-worthy performance. I just don’t think that an actress in her 20s who’s received a single nomination and win can be considered a name-check – especially opposite the likes of more seasoned actors.

Comer can get in just based on leftovers love for the previous season, either because they didn’t like s3 much or maybe because they haven’t even seen it. I guess that could be considered as name check in some ways.

It is possible that you and I use the terms differently. In my opinion, anyone can be a name check (especially after winning the Emmy just last year), but not everyone can have the name recognition vote. Shaw (it doesn’t matter if she only has two nominations, she is a respected veteran) and Oh can be both for obvious reasons, and Comer can only be the former. If they didn’t watch the season, then Comer is the most likely to return based on the fact that she won an Emmy for this. That’s name-check in my book.

That was under the old system.

That was under the old system.

    But there’s still this :

FYC Emmys : Jodie Comer ("Killing Eve"), Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials"), Russell Tovery ("Years and Years"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown") & The Crown, His Dark Materials, Years and Years, Succession and The Affair in all categories. The Politician : Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler and Judith Light.

FYC Goldderby Awards : MAURA TIERNEY AND DOMINIC WEST FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF THE AFFAIR

Not only Sandra Oh gave a weak performance, but her screentime in the 3rd installment of Killing Eve should not warrant her a nomination over more deserving/interesting contenders. Jodie Comer once again outacted Oh but I would not nominate her either. IMO, Villanelle is no longer interesting to look at as she was in the previous seasons so I’d personally go with another actress. That being said, I think Comer is getting in without Oh, SAG voters had no pity for Oh, so will Emmy voters. Regarding Fiona Shaw, she was my favorite this season but she could very well miss the nomination, in fact she will.

Sorry, but you lost me there. I hope your post gets better after, tho! 🙂

Sandra Oh has no chance to be nominated, Eve almost feels like a supporting character this season , even Fiona Shaw had better material
