Greys anatomy surprised me that it never won (in the earlier seasons), especially considering the fact that it won the drama series globe at the 2007 globes and Best cast drama at the 2007 sag awards.

Nothing truly surprises me with Emmy voters, but Six Feet Under was constantly done dirty by the Emmys, especially in acting categories.

Boardwalk Empire and Westworld were both really deserving.

Law & Order actually did win an Emmy for Drama Series in 1997.

Downton Abbey. The Television Academy really loved it. Broadly loved.

I’m guessing those MiniSeries wins for the first season settled it for voters. They didn’t think it deserved more program wins.

Rome is a show that should’ve gotten a series nom but never did. It received a bunch of other Emmy nominations though. There would be no Game of Thrones without Rome.

Agreed. Rome is one of my favorite series of all time.

I voted for “Six Feet Under” – I’m assuming “The Wire” was never nominated which is a shame.

Rome and Carnivale were two excellent HBO series from around the same time period that for some reason have never managed to make it into the cultural conversation.

First that comes to my mind: St. Elsewhere (NBC, 1982–1988).

It was Emmy nominated for outstanding drama series with each of its six seasons. Ed Flanders and William Daniels combined for three wins in lead actor. James Coco (really a guest performance) won in supporting actor. Doris Roberts (really a guest performance) won in supporting actress. It won directing and it won twice for writing.
