    • Cherry Jones – “God Bless the Child”

This submission and nomination would be even more atrocious than her two previous ones.

(My hope is that she only submits for “Succession” and allows a more deserving THT guest actress like Julie Dretzin to get in. It isn’t impossible as she was already a bit baffled by her win last year as you can see in her acceptance speech, haha.)

Jennifer Aniston is lucky tapes dont’t matter that much anymore.
She was great the entire season but it’s so hard to pick one episode.
I would rule out just episode 2, 4 and 8.

Episode 1: focuses on her. Lot of range.
Episode 3: the famous table scene “we’re doing this my way”
Episode 5: she sings! Great scenes with Marcia Gay Harden and Cudrup at the party, with Carell in the car.
Episode 6: it’s like a one big hour long crying scene
Episode 7: f-ck you to her daughter. Priceless.
Episode 9: big scene with Carell and overall great tension pre-finale
Episode 10: arrives in the end – but God those last 15 minutes (!)

    Really I can’t pick one.

I think Episode 1 could have potentially been a winning tape for her under the old system as, like you mentioned, she gets to show off her full range in it. But I do agree that she benefits from being considered for the whole season as her best scenes were definitely in Episodes 3,7 and 10.

I feel strongly Aniston’s tape would be episode 7, “Open Waters.” Her “f*ck you” speech to her daughter is astonishing. The content of her monologue is shocking, it’s long, and she nails it. It’s typical Emmy fair for which they go crazy. It’s her biggest moment and much more exposure and fireworks than the board room scene from episode 3.
