Is almost that time of the year when the members of the Television Academy decide what is the best of the year, so if any academy voter is reading GoldDerby please, please consider some shows that normaly are not in you radar and think out of the box:
1-Everybody and his sister know that Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey are locks or almost lock to be nominated again in Drama Series but after those tv shows please consider The Knick, Rectify, Bate’s Motel, the real great shows from Netflix: Narcos and Sense8, Mr. Robot and the truly masterpiece of the season: The Leftover.
2-In the Drama Lead Actress, please break the mold and give some love to the exceptional work of Eva Green in Penny Dreadful, Vera Farmiga in Bate’s Motel, Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones and (if eligible) Sarah Lancashire in Happy Valley.
3-In the Drama Actor Race please do not forget about Freddie Hightmore for Bate’s Motel, Justin Thereaux for The Leftover, Rami Malek for Mr. Robot and Aden Young for Rectify (you’re running out chance to do the right thing with this great drama).
Remember these shows in other categories:
1-PENNY DREADFUL: Cinematography, directing, costume, production design and please do not forget about Helen McCrory, Patti LuPone and Rory Kinnear.
2-RECTIFY: Aden Young is not the only one worthy from this show, remember Clayne Crawford, Adelaide Clemmens and the writers.
3-LONDON SPY: Some of the best acting of the season is in this miniseries and Ben Whishaw and Oscar winner Jim Broadbent.
4-JAMES NORTON: This young british actor is having a great year with his work in “Grantchester”, “Happy Valley”, “War & Peace” and “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” and is award worthy in every one of those.
5-BATE’S MOTEL: This little gem is not only the tour d’ force hour of Farmiga and Hightmore, this later season has been great in every sense of the word. Writing nods should be consider for the episodes “Forever” and “Norman” and the former should recieve a nod for directing.
6- I don’t watch too many comedies but please remember Mozart In The Jungle, the actors from Silicon Valley and the male cast from Veep.
7-If only one actress has to be nominated for Downton Abbey Laura Carmichael should be the one. From the men Rob James Collier and Allen Leech are better than Jim Carter, just sayin’.
8-GAME OF THRONES doesn’t need four nods in cinematography, please spread the love to others shows like the ones previously mentioned.
THAT’S FOR NOW…What do you think? and what is your plea to the Emmy voters?
The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.May 28, 2016 at 3:59 pm #1201841973
I do agree on London Spy and I fear that show might end up overlooked by Emmy voters. Now… Mozart in the Jungle? Really? That’s one of the worst show on TV right now. Winning a Globe doesn’t make that any less of a reality.May 28, 2016 at 5:05 pm #1201841980

I’ve already written this in another post, but I’m not afraid of repeating myself: please, recognize Hannibal, its extraordinary actors (Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson, at the very least), its incredible directing, and its mesmerizing technical achievements in sound, cinematography and design.
Please, recognize it.May 29, 2016 at 2:17 pm #1201842085This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.
