I’m so happy for Maya Rudolph! She has three nominations (voice-over, guest actress 2x)!

This must be worst lineup in such a long time.

So angry that Reese Witherspoon got snubbed!! She gave three strong performances… Such a mess in the limited series categories, Wever and Dever also snubbed!?

(Would like to put in a gif, but don’t know how…)

    FYC:

Drama - Big Little Lies, Ozark, The Handmaid's Tale, Euphoria, Killing Eve

Comedy - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Dead to Me, The Good Place, Modern Family

Reese Witherspoon (Lead Actress Drama Series & Limited Series)

There’s definitely a bit of hypocrisy going on here. We can’t complain about someone pointing out otherwise hard to explain black nominees (Esposito over Banks, Wiley over Down/Strahovski, Everyone over Nelson, Wright) but then also admit that BLM did play a part in the nominations.

Personally I do think BLM was probably on voter’s minds, but there’s nothing really wrong with that.

It’s not hypocrisy at all. Two competing thoughts can actually be correct at the same time.

We– Kerry got 4 noms across 4 different genres/fields in a single season. She is literally a record setter. Her POWER.

I enjoy the analyses and criticisms from GoldDerby forum members. But, I did not watch enough of the 2019–20 television season to weigh in with opinions on these nominations. When it comes to the analyses and criticisms, and from getting a good sense of what people have observed and evaluated, I am old enough to recognize that this is familiar. It is good people’s careers do not depend on whether they receive award nominations and wins.

I am confused here. People have gotten more than four nominations before.

I’m following awards only from about two years. Can someone who follows this since a long time tell me if something like this ever happened?

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

It’s really tough to see the nominations this year, because voters had the time to watch more than they usually do and I guess either chose not to or continue with their lazy voting trends.

Judging tape system panel return please!

What are we talking about here? Nominations coming out at the end of July?

The political environment was once again underestimated by most of us. The writing was on the wall, and we should have paid more attention to this. I still tried predicting as many POC as I could, but clearly I underestimated the magnitude of the movement.

This is the only thing that explains nominations for Samira Wiley and Giancarlo Esposito (I predicted the latter, albeit AFTER Banks) in those incredibly competitive categories when their shows completely tanked. Like who in their right mind would watch the third season of THT and nominated Wiley OVER Dowd or Yvonne?

There’s a lot of overreacting because of how much we talk about them and thus how similar all of our predictions end up looking, but the Emmys are fucking wild, there are no precursors really, we’re always just speculating. Last year this morning was a complete shit show too. By this time next month it will be normal
