October 1, 2020 at 10:56 am #1203749211If Maisel and Insecure miss then if Maya Rudolph goes Supporting she’s practically a lock for the win.
FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")
October 1, 2020 at 12:59 pm #1203749690Deadline is reporting Mrs Maisel is eyeing a Jan 2021 production start date. I’m guessing it won’t be eligible unless Amazon does a weekly release like it’s currently testing with The Boys.
October 1, 2020 at 1:17 pm #1203749748Wow, Comedy seems to be increasingly empty. With today’s news, I think it is very unlikely that Mrs. Maisel and WWDITS will be able to return in time. It now remains to know the fate of Dead to Me, Insecure and The Kominsky Method.
I recently watched Pen15 Season 2, and at the moment, I would risk that this series is the one that will most benefit in the 2021 competition.
October 1, 2020 at 1:23 pm #1203749774I don’t want to jinx it but that’s such an epic comedy cast.

Let’s see whether Television Academy will seek to recognize the bests of this season or go Film Academy’s route and seek to recognize things they think should be nominated by changing the eligibility period.

Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t mentioned considering changing the eligibility period. Does anyone have an idea of when they would need to announce a change by?
Seeing the possible nominees though, I’m frankly more concerned about the drama field than comedy (the fact that The Mandalorian and Stranger Things have an even better chance at winning next year than usual because of the lack of nominees is simply concerning)

Well at least there is The Crown in the Drama field. In the Comedy field unless Insecure, Dead to Me, Russian Doll or Kominsky return it looks like we’re not getting any of the incumbent Series nominees from either 2019 or 2020 back on time.
And if that’s the case then we’re going to have a very competitive lineup in 2022 with Maisel, Barry, Atlanta, Shadows, Insecure, Russian Doll and Dead to Me in competition!

Just had a look at the article. It’s interesting because it says Maisel is in pre-production but it looks like the potential delays that are causing it to shoot late are because of how long the pre-production process is taking. I won’t be surprised if Amazon just are focusing more commercially on it keeping its normal December slot (like Netflix did with The Crown season 3 last year) than it getting back in time for the 2020 Emmys.

INB4 the Kings are nominated for Evil, Baranski for the Gilded Age, Cumming and Chenoweth for this, and Archie Punjabi miraculously is deemed eligible for the Fall, we’ll have a Good Wife reunion lol.
FYC:
Best Director - Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Darius Marder (Sound of Metal)
Lead Actor - Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actor - Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)
Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)
October 1, 2020 at 2:36 pm #1203749939and Chenoweth for this
Chenoweth was in The Good Wife? I don’t remember her being in it lol.
It’s a shame that Maisel might not come back on time because we could have seen a scenario where Holly Holliday, April Rhodes and Sue Sylvester were fighting for a nomination lol.
