Claire Foy is the reason why I feel Olivia Colman doesn’t deserve this Emmy.

I blame the writers honestly. They had the opportunity to work with one of the best actresses currently working and they gave her so little material.I understand that Princess Diana and Thatcher were important people of that time period but it’s no excuse for sidelining the main character so horribly

It’s hard to compete with someone who seemed like they were born to play that role though so I don’t think giving her more to do would’ve helped the fact that Foy is just miles better.

It’s Lesley Manville, I’m sure that she’ll be perfect in the role.

2017: Thandiwe Newton (RU: Chrissy Metz)
Metz was great in TIU season 1, but Newton ate, especially with that submission.

2018: Vanessa Kirby (RU: Yvonne Strahovski)
Strahovski really deserved this, and I don’t know why they don’t see the worth of this performance. However, Kirby just gave the best quote from the entire series (‘People like you don’t get to insult…’).

2019: Julia Garner (There is not any standout runner-up from the nominee, but Keeley Hawes stunned me with her chemistry with king Madden.)
She peaked in this season, and no GoT gal could even touch here. Neither could Shaw with the nothingness of hers that season.

2020: Helena Bonham-Carter (RU: Sarah Snook)
I second what was said about HBC. “Cri de Coeur” was the best submission I could ever think of, and while I don’t think of that for this, it’s such a shame that TV Academy watched that clip, and said ‘Garner is better’. Snook was also outstanding with more subdued performance. Hope she gets what she deserves next season.

2021: Samira Wiley (RU: Helena Bonham Carter)
Brewer is great, but Wiley serves better, at least for me. Bonham-Carter is also incredible with the lack of spotlight in this season.

Claire Foy is the reason why I feel Olivia Colman doesn’t deserve this Emmy.

It’s real tho, Claire left the bar way too high for Olivia to catch up. I still think she did a good job (Fagan, Aberfan and Favorites are very good episodes for her and she nailed it), but with how much passion Claire had, the majority just felt underwhelmed.

Also, she was still very much a part of Season 4 and i was quite shocked they managed to make her fit into all that drama Diana season.
