There’s no need to overthink this. The Crown is winning.

In fact here’s a sneak peek at Emma Corrin on the Emmy stage in September.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

Darlings who do we think is winning SAG? I can’t decide between Corrin and Anderson.

Darlings who do we think is winning SAG? I can’t decide between Corrin and Anderson.

Right now I’m going with Corrin. She feels like the Nicole Kidman to Gillian Anderson’s Laura Dern. Whilst there is passion for both of them, Corrin is simply the person who is the face of this particular season of this show and her character is the emotional guiding light for audiences.

I think what also gives Corrin the leg up is that there is more of a novelty around her performance than there is behind Gillian Anderson’s. We’ve already seen a previous definitive iteration of Margaret Thatcher with Meryl’s performance whilst we haven’t really seen that with Princess Diana. It’s a bit like how we had seen a previous well regarded depiction of the queen with Helen Mirren’s Oscar winning performance but we hadn’t seen a well regarded depiction of the young queen before Claire Foy’s performance in The Crown.

I also think that the fact that Anderson has already won at SAG might give more incentive to voters awarding Corrin. SAG does tend to skew in favour of the veteran which is why I don’t think Anderson is that far behind Corrin. However, I’d argue we’ve seen a relaxation of that bias this year with Rege-Jean Page’s nomination and with Michaela Coel and Anya Taylor-Joy being the top contenders in their category.

If a Crown actress takes it, I think it’ll be Gillian. Vet + SAG fave + showy, baity role is a great combo. That said, don’t count out Linney.

I’m not underestimating the new level of sympathy that the Oprah interview generated for Diana so I’m sticking with my Corrin prediction.

The thing is if Josh O’Connor is going to win SAG (as I’m predicting), then why won’t Emma Corrin? I feel like both are a package deal and that she’s a frontrunner who generates more passion. IMO if anything it would be the case that O’Connor is the Andrew Scott to Corrin’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge or the Alexander Skarsgard to Corrin’s Nicole Kidman or the Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to Corrin’s Regina King.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call O’Connor a coattail to Corrin’s buzz but more that Corrin is the lead of The Crown not necessarily in performance but also in buzz and audience passion in the same way Nicole Kidman for example was.

Josh O’Connor can obviously lose but I find it hard to see him winning if Emma Corrin loses.

I am predicting Laura Linney in SAG. I think The Crown vote splitting will be too strong.

Boy I have Corrin, O’Connor and the show.
    I think it’s going 3/3 easily.

    For Your Emmy Consideration:
Matthew Rhys for "Perry Mason" as Leading Actor in a Drama Series
Ethan Hawke for "The Good Lord Bird" as Leading Actor in a Limited Series
Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn for "Wandavision" as Leading and Supporting actress in Limited Series
Tobias Menzies for "The Crown" as Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
MJ Rodriguez for "Pose" as Leading Actress in a Drama Series.

Indeed but Linney has lost everywhere so far so I don’t want to raise my hopes up 😩

but the thing is they were never all stacked up in the same category before. so I think that might work in her favour yk
