From the trailer for The Mare of Easttown, we can see that it seems more of the same, but Winslet must get an Actress spot. But who will take her place in the main category? Its a Sin? Wandavision? The Undoing?

Anya Taylor-Joy, Cynthia Erivo, Michaela Coel, Julia Garner, Melissa McCarthy… there are plenty of people that can happen over Winslet.
And I’m not sure why her or the show would be more of a priority for HBO than Kidman and The Undoing that is a worldwide hit and has received plenty of nominations already.

This better result in a down the board namecheck nomination for Dumezweni & Jupe.

With a seemingly never-ending lockdown coupled with the Beast from the East II, it’s no wonder that we’ve become a nation of telly addicts. The most recent boxset obsession for most? BBC’s The Serpent, which has become the channel’s most streamed show on iPlayer since last spring’s Normal People, which took the title during the first lockdown.
31 million viewers have watched the show – starring Tahar Ramim and Jenna Coleman as real life serial-killer couple Charles Sohbraj and Marie-Andrée Leclerc – since it landed on the streaming service on New Years Day, with episodes also shown every Sunday, culminating last weekend.

And depending on the strength of his show I can even see him win. But that’s only if It’s a Sin ends up being a Series nominee. I think Paul Mescal would have won last year and continued the trend of Ahmed -> Criss -> Jerome (younger prestige breakthrough performers winning) if Normal People had premiered in March and gotten into Series.

February 18, 2021 at 2:10 pm #1204048756Olly is in but i found him to be the weakest link from It’s a Sin acting wise
Lydia West should get in, she was everything. Also the supporting players all around.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 18, 2021 at 3:07 pm #1204048837I agree with Victor. Olly was excellent (and is my personal awards runner up) but he was one of the weakest performers in the ensemble. I thought Lydia West and Keeley Hawes were stronger.
Lydia West is an interesting one because she arguably has more buzz than Alexander and her character is the biggest fan favourite and one of the most buzzed about aspects of the show. I suspect HBO Max will push her in lead. They already are pushing her as co-lead in their publicity, she’s borderline and I assume they’ll try and be strategic avoid a scenario where Hawes and West split with each other. However if she does go supporting then I think she’s the second likeliest of the It’s a Sin cast members to get nominated (I currently have Hawes as the second likeliest of the It’s a Sin cast members for the nomination) and is ahead of Hawes not only in the nomination but also in the win.

She’s lead to me, they should campaign her there, she’s on the whole show.
