Cause neither of the Mrs. Maisel actresses is likable, nor the Fleabag actresses. Not Sarah Goldberg in Barry, not Betty Gilpin in GLOW, and definitely not Anna Chlumsky in Veep.

If likability is a factor then Kate McKinnon is winning I guess. Cause neither of the Mrs. Maisel actresses is likable, nor the Fleabag actresses. Not Sarah Goldberg in Barry, not Betty Gilpin in GLOW, and definitely not Anna Chlumsky in Veep.

What? Both Maisel characters are extremely likable, as are Claire in Fleabag and Debbie in Glow. A character can have flaws and still be likable, that’s called realism.

I honestly think that the 3 Barry supporting actors might split the vote because all 3 are liked the same. Everyone loves all 3 performances for different reasons. I think Winkler, Root and Carrigan are doing incredible work on Season 2, but I think that Shalhoub will prevail.

The Barry actors are definitely splitting the vote, and I’m predicting Shalhoub but I wouldn’t be that shocked if either Hale or Arkin were to pull off an upset.

Stephen Root’s performance was a lot more praised than Winkler and Carrigan in Season 2 so this isn’t true. He also was the only other main cast member in the very buzzed Ronny/Lily episode and may very well use that as his submission.

I don’t know if he was more praised than Carrigan, people love him. They’re both definitely more praised than Winkler, but he just won and he’s Henry fucking Winkler. I don’t see any way for them to not split the vote, unless Shalhoub, Hale and Arkin get basically no votes at all, which isn’t realistic.

Shalhoub is probably the win I’m most certain about in comedy

Tell me what you think but imo Maisel missed writing because of vote splitting between its three submissions. Since no episode was a huge standout like ronny/lily and, unlike in directing, it isn’t strong enough in writing get 2 nominations, it ended up shutout of this category. So maybe the writing snub doesn’t mean lack of support.

I feel like Shaloub has played the Maisel role before. I dont find him funny in the show. What a boring win.

Carrigan and Root would be so much more inspired. Especially NOHO Hank!

They only had two submissions. Russian Doll submitted three and got two nominated. A “tie” even resulted in an extra nominee and PEN15 got in instead. The writers’ branch has just completely abandoned the show. Time will tell if this is just a Modern Family situation.

Damn my theory was off. I still think it might have gotten in if it had submitted only one episode

If Chlumsky isn’t winning because of a weaker season, then Gilpin is definitely not winning either. I just know if Kate Mckinnon wins in a year that’s this strong, I’ll be pissed.

My only concern with predicting Borstein is Marin Hinkle. I think people are underestimating the damage that Hinkle can do to her. Hinkle was simply outstanding in Season 2, and she has been working in TV for some time now.

I guess your prediction depends on how confident you are in Hinkle and Borstein splitting the Maisel vote, which is why I am predicting Goldberg right now.

People not getting the point of my post. Well, I’m not surprised.

The point I was trying to make was likability had no factor in getting these women nominated and it will have no factor in getting one of them the win. But God forbid you’d understand sarcasm and don’t go directly into defense mood.
