Sorry, but I don’t get this Andrew Scott fuss. First, the category was crowded and they went with 3 Barry actors, and I think Scott actually got limited material in Fleabag, not enough to be considered an acting showcase. He was great as the priest and had great chemistry with Phoebe, but idk. Convince me why he should be an Emmy nominee for this show.

For me it’s not about if he should get a nom and more about the fact that the show got shit ton of acting noms (some of them quite surprising), so omitting Scott, whose perfomance was very good and his character played a crucial part in Fleabag’s journey, was surprising. Nothing against those who were nominated, but his name among the nominees wouldn’t be out of the place in terms of quality.

Fleabag is a very female-centered show. It’s not hard to lift Andrew Scott out.

The Series and Supporting Actress races are driving me crazy.

For Series, my heart says Fleabag and my brain says Barry. For S-Actress, I’m torn between Chlumsky, Goldberg, and Borstein.

I think that’s also the case with Lead Actress (unless Barry Wins).

You mean you actually started it?

Based purely on nominations Barry and Maisel seem strongest. But Fleabag got in almost everywhere it could and it seems like it’s the hot show in the industry these days. We’ve seen shows like The Handmaid’s Tale win against shows with more nominations because it was a late release. The thing that makes me go back to Barry is what Riley said in the slugfest about how it’s the only male driven nominee.

I personally think he does. He was great, better than Douglas in my opinion

Yeah, I was just making a joke about how no one should care about that (or any Chuck Lorre) show.

I’m still having Fleabag at #1 for now but I think Maisel is simply going to repeat. I really don’t think Barry is winning.

I am just still having trouble letting go of Veep as the frontrunner, despite its luke warm nomination performance.

Can’t help remembering that this is the same group that kept giving it to Modern Family for five years, even as its nomination count dropped. And Veep actually still has critical support and cultural cache, unlike Modern Family in its later seasons. Plus, it’s already winning one main ceremony trophy (possibly two if it surprises in writing).

I’d say Fleabag is a lock for Writing and Barry for Directing. Hader is winning Actor (possible Upset from Danson), Actress could go to either Waller Bridge, Dreyfus or Brosnahan. Supporting Actor is probably going to Shalhoub, unless Arkin gets the support. Supporting Actress I could see going to Borstein, Colman or Goldberg (probably whichever takes Series takes this as well). I don’t see Chlumsky Winning. Series is between Barry and Fleabag. Guest Actress is between Rudolph, Oh and Scott Thomas.
