Supporting actress is the best category so the worst of this category is still a pretty good performance. Gilpin, Hinkle, Borstein, Clifford would all make exceptional winners.

Banned for making a fake movie poster

I feel like anyone from the comedy lead actress category could win and it would be well deserved. This group is just insane

I’d say all apart from Lyonne would be deserving winners. She was great but it wasn’t much of a stretch from what we’ve seen her do before. A worthy nominee all the same.

I put her in third after Alex Borstein and Sarah Goldberg. I still think Olivia Colman only won the oscar because Gaga and Glenn Close split the vote. She didn’t win for the Night Manager at the Emmys in 2016…

She won because her performance was 486737 times better than the others two combined. Like many of us said, she is terrific in Fleabag as well, it is not her fault that many people cannot appreciate subtle acting.

She wasnt exactly subtle in The Favourite. All she did was scream her head off.

Gaga lost any chance she had for actress after her Globe loss. Olivia won because she was the best among the 5; was a knew discovery to the US (which as a Brit is insane to think about); was also running with Close & Gaga as well; had the most critics wins going in (outside of Collette) and had won the C/M Globe and BAFTA.

As for the loss for Night Manager at the Emmys, she was never expected to win her. Jean Smart (Fargo) was the expected winner but Regina King (American Crime) upsetted.

Olivia Colman was/is the most deserving Óscar winner since Vivien Leigh won for Gone With The Wind.

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.

Comments like this are why we rarely get nice things

No; I don’t want blink and you miss it TV honored under ANY circumstances. Emmys can’t be seriously thinking giving its comedy series trophy to a show of such brevity. GoT; they were shoehorned into 6 episodes. That’s one thing. It’s quite the other when a show VOLUNTEERS to be so brief.

I hate to tell you this, but the GoT showrunners asked for just 6 episodes

Regina King always upsets lol. Anyways, I’m over that Oscar argument. People seem to be really defensive over Olivia Colman and I in no way said she wasn’t brilliant in The Favourite I just thought there was vote-splitting involved. I was wrong. But I still have Colman in third for supporting actress.

Mmm…she is the most deserving from the 2nd half of this decade, I’ll say that

And most English shows are short so his comment is pointless nonsense, as always.

I don’t knock Veep for missing the directing nominations since it was almost certainly in sixth place in the nomination tally but had to be thrown out for the Big Bang Theory. I sorta view this category as only having five nominations now, since the multi-cam nom will never be close to the top six in nomination tally and a better directed episode will normally lose its nomination.

Speaking of just missing, who do you think was in 7th for Lead Actress? I feel it was either Linda Cardinelli or Alison Brie.

I think Pamela Adlon was 7th.
