I’m just here to gloat about the Christina Applegate, Natasha Lyonne, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge nominations.

Usually I gravitate more towards the drama categories but they were so dull this year. Comedy however is STELLAR. I’m just so, so happy to see Shitts Creek, Russian Doll and Dead to Me get noms. Too bad for The Other Two, however.

The series and lead acting nominations for Schitt’s Creek has to be the surprise of the day!

It turned out that only Brosnahan and Louis-Dreyfus were safe for lead actress, and the battle has to still be between the two of them.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was completely forgotten, as was Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so I guess the Academy wasn’t into over-the-top comedy this year.

How does Betty Gilpin continue to be the only performer nominated from GLOW?

With Carrigan and Root nominated alongside Winkler from Barry, does that make it easier or harder for him to repeat?

But Veep being the comedy series with the 5th most nominations this year (6th if you count SNL) might really hurt its chances to win.

So voters basically only watched “Barry,” “Maisel,” “SNL,” “Fleabag,” and “Veep”? Got it. All else need not bother attending the Comedy section of the Emmys in Sept.

They nominated Fleabag everywhere but still no Andrew Scott? Are these people even watching the show?

Cheadle sneaking his way into a nomination

Cheadle was fantastic in Black Monday (he was outshined by King and Rannells imo)

Putting D’Arcy Carden to announce nominations and not including her in a 8-slot field was cruel.

However, 20 NOMINATIONS FOR MRS MAISEL INCLUDING LUKE KIRBY AND MARIN HINKLE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS

    Barry or Fleabag is winning

Fleabag is NOT winning. It’s British. They won’t let this happen. Barry is a possibility but never vote against the previous winner. After all, Maisel has never lost. And judging from guild support, well…

    Comedy nominations >>> Drama nominations

So true. The DRAMA nominations simply suck.

    What absolute BS.

Waller-Bridge and Lyonne’s shows hit everywhere too. WHy the hell can’t one of them win?

This wasn’t Veep’s strongest season but it deserved so much better than just nine nominations.

GoT won Drama last year when it barely won anything else. But it had broad support. The top award now is voted by everybody in the Academy. Maisel’s 20 nods just show it has the broad support and I believe it will repeat.
