With the news of Olivia Colman not attending the Emmys this sunday, I’m starting to think she doesn’t want to win this specific award.

Consider everyone agrees she was more of a guest star this season and submitted a nothing tape where she’s barely in it.

Also she has a more deserving colleague in the category and will have a huge chance next year for The Crown.

Idk, Olivia Colman seems kind and friendly enough with her peers to “sabotage” herself to help someone else win even though she’s everyone’s favorite. She’s like the Adele of actors lol.

chromatica out on may 29th yeah

Is there an actual list of attendees? I thought there was just a list of presenters. Am I missing something?

Chris posted pictures of the seating charts and mentioned that Colman and Arkin wouldn’t be attending.

Season 1 Episode 6 would have been such a great showcase for Colman. It’s arguably the episode that centers the most around her and all of her exchanges at the sex-hibition are gold. She even gets that little dramatic moment after Fleabag breaks the champagne glass that really shows off her range to the extent that I wouldn’t mind her winning this category for that tape. But she did nothing in Episode 4 fo Season 2

Her speech in that finale that was truly meant as a victory speech against Fleabag – the malevolence in her delivery was perfection especially with that final shot directly targeted at Fleabag.

But yeah she is on record for saying she thinks it’s someone else’s turn which probably explains her submission.

The Crown is shooting in Scotland on what looks like a big set so it probably costs more to delay that by a couple of days for like 2 minutes max that she may be given to promote the show at the Emmys.

Ngl slightly miffed that we won’t get to hear her speech if she wins. Hopefully Clifford wins.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want Maisel to win Best Comedy!? It has become stagnant. There are way more deserving nominees waiting to be coronated

    No, you are not.

I love VEEP very much from the beginning. It’s my all time favorite series along with Seinfeld. But if VEEP loses to Fleabeg I’ll have the same feeling I would have if VEEP lost to Atlanta in 2017: ok, VEEP is better, but that series the realy, realy good too. I watched 5 episodes of TMMM s1 and almost slept. I found it very repetitive and boring, despite being very well executed … Anyway, it will be sad if VEEP loses to TMMM, if loses to Fleabag, I can get over it easier.

Sometimes I think I’m the only one who wants Maisel to win here with all this Fleabag love, just look at the ‘should win’ thread. But for some reason everybody here is rooting for a Tony Shalhoub victory when I find him the weakest in the cast and the category (Anthony Carrigan for the win).

    Gold Derby’s taste is peculiar

Sis I’m with you on that one. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is hated here for whatever reason.

Tony Shalhoub was the greatest supporting actor in TV this past season.

Reminds me of how Weisz was the only one from the trio who went to the Academy luncheon, and it kinda seemed like Colman and Stone didn’t go so she could campaign by herself since she seemed to be the only one who could win at the time.

“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.

Maisel is beautiful and fantastically well executed I just think it misses the edge/spunk that Fleabag, Barry and Veep have IMO. But it’s still very, very well done

I’m on Team Carrigan for Comedy Supporting Actor, but I know he has no chance. Tony Shaloub is damn near a lock to win, which I don’t mind. You can’t deny that he was amazing in Season 2 of Maisel.

Just finished watching Barry. That was totally terrific but, how come OITNB is considered cut from comedy but not this? It just went straight drama, not even dramedy territory anymore. They really should see that next year

Also the ronny/lily episode was greatly choreographed with perfect plan-sequences. But it had no correlation to the rest of the story and its plot was totally forgotten by next episode. Still I’ll give Bill Hader his due for directing tho, he sure had to worked a lot on that one.

Thanks to the ones who recommended it. This field is fantastic and is giving much anticipation for sunday

That was the point. The episode was supposed to random as hell. As for why the Academy doesn’t consider it as a drama could be because it’s only a half-hour per episode.
