I advocated for Goldberg last year. She deserved that nom over someone like Metcalf for Rosanne’s mess. But she didn’t get in, and it’s a usual phenomenon, it takes time for everyone to catch up, but she is not winning this year. I’m rooting for her always and hopefully she wins in the future, but even with Barry’s popularity, she doesn’t seem like someone who can have the support. I think Gilpin might inspire more passion than her. Anyway, I can’t wait for Emmys cuz I’m so tired of this year.

Why I feel this year will turn out to be super predictable!?

I think Best Comedy category is still decisive. Rest are more or less fixed

I think she was a great dramatic supporting actress. Her comedic moments in season 2 were infrequent.

I feel like that shouldn’t matter. I mean, Bill Hader literally killed a guy in his submission last year and had a mental breakdown over it.

I am amazed that Barry is so underrated here. It got 17 noms, and 13 last year. It’s got FIVE actors nominated, a writing and TWO directing noms. It won 2 creative arts Emmys including a repeat. It’s got a mega hyped episode people know by name, which Hader talked about for months on late night shows and podcasts. He won two WGAs, a DGA, a Peabody, two Critics Choice, and others. Has any other show ever had its entire main cast nominated in the same year??

People LOVE this show. It’s 99% and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Academy LOVES this show. It is a BRILLIANT show. It’s bite sized enough so that voters have seen every episode.

Bill Hader is a goddam beloved national treasure and people want him to succeed.

Don’t look past Barry for Series.

Honestly, I feel if Barry had half as much of a following as Fleabag, Sarah Goldberg would be the frontrunner. I love Sian Clifford in Fleabag but Sarah Goldberg was the best out of the bunch.

Barry has a way bigger following! 2.2 million people watched the series finale. Over on Reddit, Barry has 30k members, whereas Fleabag has 5k. Even Maisel only has 9k people talking about it on Reddit. Not that these awards are about middle America, but Barry is hardly a niche little show tucked away in a corner.

Fleabag’s following is a bunch of young, white, media people and Tumblr kids. It’s a great show but I can’t think of a single quote (watched both seasons twice), whereas Barry?? Cultish, quotable, aired after Game of Bloody Thrones, stars Bill Hader who is possibly a household name.

Why are so many people starting to predict Alan Arkin over Tony Shalhoub? Are these just last-minute jitters or does it have some validity? I have him in almost last place.

I have him in second because I think he was great but also becuase this is the Emmys and they LOVE to reward legends when they have the chance

The Television Academy may love Barry, but do they love it enough to give Sarah Goldberg and Anthony Carrigan Emmys? Probably not.

I wasn’t aware all the celebrities who raved about fleabag in the last couple of months were just tumblr kids.

Which celebrities apart from Hader himself?! Anyway ‘celebrities’, if you mean Academy member actors, aren’t the only voters for Series.

Literally all the relevant ones. Daniel Craig asked PWB to write the new James Bond script because he loves fleabag. Even Taylor Swift raved about it recently.

Literally all the relevant ones. Oh haha. Sorry if you’re trying to suggest Fleabag has a larger footprint than Barry you’re barking up the wrong tree. It’s a great show, don’t get me wrong, and it may win. But Barry shouldn’t be discounted because it is fkn fantastic as well, and way more people have seen it and it is beloved and has won numerous awards already.

You know why Andrew Scott wasn’t nominated for raved about Hot Priest? Because three Barry actors were nominated. THREE. Scott Thomas couldn’t even overcome Jane Lynch.

I think Fleabag will do well at the globes next year regardless of how it does tomorrow.

And yet Fleabag will win more awards on Sunday than Barry. It’s like in third place behind both Fleabag and Maisel. Even Russian Doll could be ahead of it, sorry! Maybe next year.

Fleabag will win writing and maybe supporting actress. Barry is a lock for actor and directing. You’re looking for a fight where there is none.
