Why are so many people starting to predict Alan Arkin over Tony Shalhoub? Are these just last-minute jitters or does it have some validity? I have him in almost last place.

I have him in second because I think he was great but also becuase this is the Emmys and they LOVE to reward legends when they have the chance

The Television Academy may love Barry, but do they love it enough to give Sarah Goldberg and Anthony Carrigan Emmys? Probably not.

I wasn’t aware all the celebrities who raved about fleabag in the last couple of months were just tumblr kids.

Which celebrities apart from Hader hinself?! Anyway ‘celebrities’, if you mean Academy member actors, aren’t the only voters.

Literally all the relevant ones. Daniel Craig asked PWB to write the new James Bond script because he loves fleabag. Even Taylor Swift raved about it recently.

I think Fleabag will do well at the globes next year regardless of how it does tomorrow.

You know why Andrew Scott wasn’t nominated for raved about Hot Priest? Because three Barry actors were nominated. THREE. Scott Thomas couldn’t even overcome Jane Lynch.

And yet Fleabag will win more awards on Sunday than Barry. It’s like in third place behind both Fleabag and Maisel. Even Russian Doll could be ahead of it, sorry! Maybe next year.

Russian Doll is not ahead of Barry lmao

It got something like 13 nominations, more creative arts emmys, 2 directing or writing nominations I don’t remember which, lead actress, did well at TCA awards (it’s not really relevant but still) so I don’t see why it wouldn’t be.

By that logic Fosse/Verdon should be ahead of WTSU. F/V has more nominations, won more Creative Arts Emmys, has double directing nominations and is also nominated for Writing, has an editing nomination over WTSU, and performed better at TCA. We all know that’s not the case though.

Barry has more nominations than RD, there isn’t much difference between their Creative Arts haul (2 vs 3) especially when neither won any big category, Barry is nominated for both Writing and Directing (2) unlike Russian Doll and Barry got it’s entire main cast nominated which is more impressive than RD’s single lead actress nod. TCA aren’t relevant at all for the Emmys. Barry is solidly ahead of Russian Doll. That’s undebatable.

You are right lol. I didn’t say it was though, I just put the possibility out there.

The lack of love for Barry here amazes me.

A lot of people love it here.

No Barry supporting actor is winning this year.

The problem is all three are win worthy. They can’t overcome the vote split.

I don’t think Barry has stronger case then Veep.

Considering it’s only the producers voting for best comedy, and they don’t mind repeating winners – Veep and Mrs Maisel are the top two contenders. Number of nominations and wins in other category don’t mean much I think
