Oy vey, I’m not sure that you’re aware of Barry or the Emmys in the slightest. On all those indicators, Barry is still ahead of Russian Doll (and Fleabag aaaaand Maisel). It has THE MOST nominations of any comedy at the Primetime Emmys. In SIX categories, which again is more categories than any other comedy. The lack of love for Barry here amazes me.

I think this is where I come in lol

Like Fleabag, Barry has industry support too.

Honey, Barry is NOT even a fucking comedy. BARF!

I’m just going to assume that you’ve never seen the show. Putting the word “barf” even remotely close to Barry is a clear indication.

I second that. And not being a comedy doesn’t make it any less of a great show. If Barry was in drama I would probably be rooting for it.

Let me guess if the show had a black actor you’d be rooting for it.

If John Lennon sang “imagine there’s no categories, it’s easy if you try”, would you like the show? If you couldn’t call it either a comedy or a drama, if the Emmys were category-fluid, or gender liquid, would you like it then? Barry is like a heroin table in an open plan monastery. It works on its own merits.

It is funny as fuck. And then it’s not. But then it is again. Often within a single line of dialogue.

Btw of all the people here who think Maisel will win, do any of you actually love it yourself as a viewer? Or are you just picking it because you think it will win,  betting on the Academy members liking it?

I personally love Maisel, it was my favorite show last year until I watched Barry. I think the first season was better, but the second is still really good. Would probably rank it 3rd behind Barry and Fleabag this year, but 2nd-5th place are really close for me.

Honey, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel sucks. BARF!

You’ve ruined the word BARF for me. From now on I’m just going to associate it with ridiculous opinions on the internet.

I saw your avatar and for a second freaked out! Had a momentary vision of ending up in the writers room, discovered by Bill Hader on a Gold Derby forum!

PS if this is Bill, good luck for tomorrow and I hope you’ve got a red carpet pose figured out!

The problem I have with a lot of people on these forums is that if they don’t like something, it means it’s bad. It’s fine if something doesn’t work for you but that doesn’t mean it sucks. Why can’t people just be objective for once. There are plenty of great movies/shows that I don’t like but that doesn’t mean they’re bad.

I loved Colman on Fleabeg’s S1 and then I saw “The Night Mananger” and I just thought: OMG, how I didn’t know this woman before! But if she wins tomorrow, it will be very, very unfair.

Exactly, and if they don’t minimally like it they need to constantly drag it to the pits of hell

Barry IS a drama with comedic elements. And it’s not just me that’s saying it now. Put it in drama next year. And Russian Doll and Dead to Me while you’re at it.

Right, because two people is enough to be a consensus. Any other changes this two person committee is making?
