I previously talked about how I think that we should act as if it is both seasons of Fleabag being considered as opposed to just the second (because I think that voters only discovered the show in the last few months) and how this helps Olivia Colman. It also helps Phoebe Waller-Bridge because the first season finale is her best performance. I found her quite reactive in the second season and I suspect that that is why there are reservations about her being awarded for it. But I would support a win for her first season finale; I already thought that it should have beaten Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s work in “Groundbreaking” if nominated in its actual eligible year.August 19, 2019 at 12:56 am #1203029552
Fleabag doesn’t have a visibility problem. The writers know who PWB is from both this and Killing Eve, so they got her.August 19, 2019 at 3:37 am #1203029623
I just have this hunch that Fleabag is going to sweep and then all of us will look at it in hindsight and say that we should have seen it coming.August 19, 2019 at 4:47 am #1203029638
I just have trouble seeing JLD losing, especially since she is campaigning. And supporting actress also bothers me but I might just put Sian Clifford and Olivia Colman in top 2.August 19, 2019 at 6:36 am #1203029748
It’s just that there is a big steaming red flag next to Fleabag. Two words, 4 syllables:
Six episodes. That should be a ginormous stop sign no matter if the queen/darling of all media (PWB) is doing it or anybody else.August 19, 2019 at 6:39 am #1203029752
Again GoT s8 is also 6 episodes but that doesn’t seem to bother you.August 19, 2019 at 11:03 am #1203030215
That’s because he doesn’t have a horse in the drama races. I’m sure if a Kristen Bell led Drama was in contention, he’d be taking issues with that too.August 19, 2019 at 11:16 am #1203030234
The episode count doesn’t matter. The quality matters.August 19, 2019 at 12:53 pm #1203030392
I finished my Schitt’s Creek binge-watch, and I have to say that neither the show or the actors submitted right.
Catherine O’Hara submit a great episode, but I still prefer ‘Life is a Cabaret’
Eugene Levy submit very poorly, he should have gone with ‘Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose’. Probably his best episode of the entire show.
The show itself submit 4 good episodes (“The Crowening” “Meet the Parents” “The Hike” “Life is a Cabaret”). But Love Letters and Rock On! didn’t deserve to be choose, they should’ve gone with “Housewarming”, which was probably the most fun episode of the season and “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose”.August 19, 2019 at 1:10 pm #1203030421
I binge watched every episode of “Fleabag” yesterday and I love it. I think PWB really deserves to win writing and she gives an excellent performance with a lot of range she’s laugh 😂 out loud funny and sometimes heartbreaking. No show like this has won at the EMMYS before but anything could happen now it seems likeAugust 19, 2019 at 2:55 pm #1203030589
I might be alone here but I’m really thinking Maisel will take Best Comedy over Fleabag. Their Maisel Day event was extremely successful with Emmy voters and their audience demographic is more Emmy Voter friendly.August 19, 2019 at 3:17 pm #1203030628

I am extremely biased b/c it is one of my favorite shows but I’m also predicting Mrs. Maisel to win series.

This is so nice to hear. Hopefully, it works.August 19, 2019 at 4:49 pm #1203030784
In 2016 Julia won for the episode “Mother” epi. 5, season 5.
That wasn’t the year Phoebe was eligible for season 1 of Fleabag, that was 2017.

Well, Bill Hader’s trying to help his costars campaign… Stephen Root will join him, D’Arcy Carden and Henry Winkler tonight on Lights Out With David Spade. David Spade is calling tonight’s panel Barry night. Unfortunately, Anthony Carrigan and Sarah Goldberg live in NY so they will not be attending.
