I’ve now watched all Supporting actress nominees except for Chlumsky. My favorite are Borstein, Clifford, Gilpin and Goldberg. Now Clifford doesn’t seem to stand a chance because she’s overshadowed by her buzzier co-star Colman. Colman winning wouldn’t be bad, she’s hilariously hateable, but she’s practically guest and one-note. These other nominees have had so much more material to chew and have delivered richer performances. Gilpin is simply outstanding. Allow me but in her role, she’s sexy, funny, smart, she cries, makes on point fake facial expressions as Liberty Belle, it’s just she does so much and shows such range. She’d be an excellent winner. But it’s hard without a series nomination. Borstein is completely a different person. I can’t believe it’s Alex Borstein who plays Susie. She deserved her Emmy last year and for that I’ll dismiss her so someone else equally deserving wins. I have a soft spot for Goldberg but I think her performance being dramatic might hurt her chances. This race is a toss up, and honestly I think the winner is gonna be from the show that sweeps, unless 🤞 Gilpin surprises.

Agreed on everything and the taste omg. I had to stan.

    GIVE LENA HEADEY HER EMMY

Bitch, yes to this, but it’s probably gonna be Colman.

I am generally happy with this new voting system. And usually over the moon with it. No way the subtle brilliance of a Claire Foy, Riz Ahmed, or even Jon Hamm prevail in the tape system of showy and over the top. Tatiana Maslany, Rami Malek, and Thandie Newton’s episodes would have been “too confusing”. And so on.

But Gilpin’s probable loss will really make me miss the old system. She could have Kyra Sedgwick’d her way to victory.

I see Julia did a Goldderby chat. She’s been posting photos from the Veep set all during voting on instagram. She is beyond thirsty for her 26th Emmy.

But she’s runner up to Laverne Cox who posted on instagram to vote for her to MAKE HISTORY as the first trans woman to win.

Julia’s probably starting to realize she’s not the frontrunner anymore and she has to put in some work. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the queen of Emmy campaigning this year.

It’s just exactly the same as her OITNB character. She doesn’t have range.

    a) Not true.

    B) a lack of range does not mean someone is a bad actor.

    C) playing a version of is way harder than you think and possible harder than playing a transformative different character

    D) Both performances are so good

All this Gilpin stanning makes me a little bit hopeful for the Emmys, just a little bit.

She is also phenomenal in season 3 so I hope that also works in her favor.

i love Borstein as Susie and was completely behind her win last year, but “she’s a completely different person” ? Cmon, she was born to play that role, it suits her personality and mannerisms perfectly. And that does not diminish from her performance at all, but a completely different person she is not.

Well it’s one campaigning advantage JLD has over PWB since the latter has no social media. PWB is also not going to be available to campaign any more since her Fleabag run in the West End has started so it’s a good thing she took all the opportunities she had the last couple of months to spread word on the show.

Just rewatched season two of Fleabag and I gotta say that Sian Clifford is officially my fave of the Supporting Actress nominees. She’s so brilliant.
