I wasn’t sure where to post this but Variety did a piece on the Emmy nominated stunts for Barry today with stunt coordinator Wade Allen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoxxQpV-ARk

In a ideal world, Hinckle/Borstein and Colman/Clifford split so many votes that Gilpin ends up winning it. You know that would be the true justice in this category.

Even if the Maisel and Fleabag actresses vote split, Gilpin’s probably not winning. Chlumsky, Goldberg, and McKinnon are all more likely to win if such a thing happened.

Goldberg isn’t as far behind as people think. She had the best tape out of the nominees (besides Gilpin).

Based on these clips, Goldberg should take this in a landslide.

Thankfully voters are voting based on the entire performance and not just one mediocrely written monologue. She does the most she can with it but win worthy? Seriously? It’s not even funny…

    Clifford or Gilpin please

    What a spectacular category.

    1. Goldberg
    2. Gilpin
    3. Clifford
    4. Chlumsky
    5. Borstein
    6. Hinkle
    7. Colman

I won’t include McKinnon because I don’t know how to compare her to the others. It’s not the same type of performance and SHE SHOULD BE IN A SEPARATE CATEGORY.

    Rankings of clips:

    1. Goldberg (by far the best clip; stay pressed people lol)
    2. Giplin
    3. Chlumsky
    4. Borstein
    5. Clifford
    6. Colman
    7. Hinkle (definitely a Tony Shalhoub showcase rather than a Hinkle, but she’s interchangeable with Colman)

Same as EsOS, I’m not even going to bother listing McKinnon.

I watched that and it was fantastic. It’s obviously part of their campaign but I think 🤔 it will help that episode win directing.

Maisel only had eight episodes in their first season last year and they won. So clearly quantity of episodes is not a stigma anymore.

As IF Barry is fourth in the combined odds despite being the only Comedy Series to get nominations in all the key places

You know what, I’m starting to predict an Olivia Colman win. Even though they are irrelevant, I saw many polls having Olivia Colman as a clear frontrunner and Sian being basically irrelevant. It also seems to be like that on my twitter TL with people loving Olivia and barely talking about Sian. I also have a friend who stans fleabag way before it became popular and who followed s2 when it aired on BBC, and he was way more enthusiastic about Olivia Colman getting nominated than Sian.

I know a single person and polls are not representative of Emmy voters but I don’t think a vote splitting will really occur here.

Agreed. I honestly think Barry is in second after Fleabag. I bumped Maisel to third. Plus, Rotten Tomatoes just did the best shows of 2019 (all shows, not just comedies) and Fleabag was #1 and Barry was #2.
