Can someone as objectively as possible tell me if Turman deserves to win guest actor?

He does. He plays a convicted black man, who was wrongfully sentenced because he didn’t have proper advisors/representatives/lawyers. He spent years in solitary and carries that with him. In his episode, he’s on the stand in court, explaining his story. He’s absolutely fantastic. IMO, everyone except for Jones is deserving in this race; I haven’t seen Nanjiani yet.

I think you can get 1 year free? Unless it’s just for new buyers, you should google it once it comes out.

Turman is deserving of the win based on his performance in his submission. Turman would have been a deserving nominee and winner last year too.

Which could be a sign that he doesn’t have the support to win this year if they snubbed him last year?
Or.. he could win for both seasons as make-up.

I think that Turman getting nominated is a good sign and if he wins, then it will be well deserved.

Oh for Pete’s sake Glynn Turman is not winning a popular vote for How to Get Away with still being on the air.

What is wrong with people this year?  This has been the worst year ever for solid Goldderby analysis.   There’s like 3 posters on top of their game and a couple of wise editors.  Other than that it’s a bunch of Game of Thrones fan fiction, Thatcher’s lame ass attempt at humor, and stupid non starter upset possibilities (IE. I have a feeling that Lavern Cox will win!!).

Wake me when it’s over.  Let’s get this shizz on the road. And next season, step your damn games up.

I think that it is between Whitford and Angarano.

Thank you for your nice comment on the previous Drama thread, I couldn’t reply to your question about who I think that is going to win writing. My bet is on Winner, it is the best episode and the most prestigious one. The three episodes of Better Call Saul on IMDB are also his three Emmy writing nominations – Five-O, Chicanery and Winner, that means that the episode is really as huge as the previous two, also unlike the other two, this one is written by Breaking Bad veterans Peter Gould and Thomas Schnauz, who is a previous nominee for one of Breaking Bad’s most iconic episodes – Say My Name.

Also, I refuse to accept that the best guild at the Emmys, the one that watches the most TV, the one who has always been one step in front of the others (the only guild that nominated The Wire and they did it two times, they also nominated the most iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s episode) and the one with the most impecable winners in the last 20 years, see for yourselves:

    – THREE of the most acclaimed pilots of TV’s history (24, Homeland and The Handmaid’s Tale)
    – TWO of the most beloved and acclaimed series finale ever (Friday Night Lights and The Americans)
    – SIX of the best Sopranos’s episodes, one of the is also a series finale
    – THREE of the best Mad Men’s episodes, one of them is also a pilot
    – SIX of the most iconic TV events ever (In Excelsis Deo from The West Wing, Three Stories from House, Q&A from Homeland, Mother’s Mercy and Battle of the Bastards from GoT and Ozymandias from Breaking Bad)

Does someone really think that those 20 episodes can be followed by one of the worst written episodes of TV history in the face of The Iron Throne? I DON’T!

Watching those 20 winners, Winner (never a title was more appropriate) is the best option, the closest one both in style and in prestige, the writing is superb. Holly and Nobody Is Ever Missing (the only one that I have yet to seen, but I saw the first three episodes of Succession and is really good, but very snobbish and unpleasant at times) are the other two options. Nice and Neat is too weird and random, Episode 1 of Bodyguard is good, but is not something new or out of the ordinary.

Harrington winning would be offensive because he is by far the worst nominee of his category, and it would be even more offensive so if Carice, Emilia and Lena/Christie all loses. The Emmys would have treated GoT’s women as badly as the writers of the show.

Yeah, totally Harrington. He failed to act the most juicy moments for his character. I mean, Jon found who his  real parents were and that he is not a bastard-and pretty nothing from him. The guy who played Sam showed more variety of emotions about it. Jon is leaving Ghost in ep.4-barely any emotion.
And his dialogue was basically the same in S8, either “I don’t want it/throne’, “You are/She is mine queen”. And he said those lines basically in two tone mode all the time.

I just counted the total nominations for women across the run of the show across guest, supporting and lead and nearly gasped. Seventeen. 17. Without a win. That has to be (close) to some kind of show total record – across Headey, Rigg (legend), Clarke, Williams, Van Houten, Christie and Turner. For them to walk away from that show without a single Emmy for any of those women combined is a travesty (and yes I know a lot of them were against each other, but, hey, Dinklage). If Clarke can’t win lead, I really hope someone breaks that vote-split. I don’t care who.

    Wow. What a mess.

A lot of talented actresses and actors did well with awful material in the last season of Game of Thrones. Kit Harrington though? He just went on about “his queen” and completely failed to sell the ending of his arc. If TV had Razzies, he’d be deserving of at least a nomination.

    For Your Consideration:

Best Picture: Weathering With You, Parasite, The Lighthouse
Best Actor: Robert Pattison - The Lighthouse
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
Best International Film: Weathering With You, Parasite

Maybe you should stay away from the Emmy threads.

I always pray and hope that the voters watch the submissions and vote for the best and not for the most popular. I stand by my statement, that Turman should win Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his wonderful performance in How To Get Away With Murder.

Mad Men holds the record with 17 female acting nominations and no wins. Game of Thrones actually has 18 nominations for its female cast. If they don’t win this year, they’ll be the new record holder.

Do’t worry the one true Queen is winning…..and i meant Emilia Clarke

The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.
